Default a pleasant surprise

Got a nice surprise when I opened the mail yesterday. A $50 cheque! Was from a company I did some work for earlier in the year. Had no idea that I was owed this money. Made a welcome chance from bills.

That's great! You can add that to your $20 challenge if you have one!

Ima, your post reminded me that when we were first starting our emergency fund that any found money was automatically put there. Far different from my friend who would go get new clothes or eat out when she found money. Guess who doesn't have a savings account now?

I would guess your friend! For years I tried to get my friend to open a savings account and she just would not do it! All these years, no emergeny fund, just borrow from everyone or let her church pay all her bills.

Bingo! Her reply is always...I can't save money, and if I did I'd want to spend it. They just took out a home equity loan to pay off $20,000 in CC...they took out an extra $1000 to start an emergency fund. Can't wait to see how long that lasts!

I received an unexpected cheque for $2192.59 from the US government as a tax refund on Monday. It's going to help pay off my scooter.

WoWee!!!

DH and I got an extra $250 back b/c when H&R Block did our taxes this year they redid our previous year's taxes and found something that had been overlooked. We were thrilled -- it more than covered the charges for having them do our taxes. And since we had 3 states and federal to file for, it was definitely worth it!
