Re: Favorite quote or money motivator?
"Real contentment lies not in having more, but in wanting less of the stuff that you wouldn't be craving anyway if this were your last day alive. LaTasha tells me that on that last day, she wouldn't be asking for another pashmina or a hoity-toity job but a clear conscience and a zero credit-card balance. Another friend told me, "I'd want a good relationship with my husband. That's it." And yet when you're busting your behind for both a kickin' career and an enviable home life, few people ever tell you that though you might be able to have it all, you really can't have it all at the same time. If you're seeking everything with equal time and intensity, something--or someone--will get compromised.
In the end, the best answers I've discovered are the ones that sisters who came long before me--and who didn't have squat to their names but were wealthy in wisdom--always knew: Show the ones you love that you love them. Get out of your hurry. Decide what matters to you and then boldly rearrange your life to have it. Know that you're already worth something. Want what you already have. And when the George Foreman grill starts calling your name, consider what it would feel like to stop buying and start being." -Michelle Burford, Essense

"If thou desire to purchase honor with thy wealth, consider first how that wealth became thine; if thy labor got it, let thy wisdom keep it; if oppression found it, let repentence restore it; if thy parent left it,
let thy virtues deserve it; so shall thy honor be safer, better, and cheaper." ~~Quarles

It's an old custom on discussion boards that if you make an off-topic comment, you should still provide a useful contribution. "ob" is short for obligatory.

All I would tell people is to hold onto what was individual about
themselves, not to allow their ambition for success to cause them to
try to imitate the success of others. You've got to find it on your
own terms.

I have never heard Dave Ramsey say it. The first time I ever saw that quote was a couple of days ago on the livinglikenooneelse.com message board. I think it would be a great title for a book.
