"The standard scenario for governments badly in deficit is simply to print more money. Inflation is the result and is nothing more (or less) than a relentless tax that needs no congressional approval." ~Andrew Tobias, The Only OTHER Investment Guide You'll Ever Need, pg. 105

on Money as master:

Almost anything is easier to get into that out of ~ can't remember, but it applies to absolutely everything

This is a fairly famous quote from one of President Woodrow Wilson's books called "the New Freedom"
“Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the U.S., in the field of commerce and manufacturing, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.” Another good one: "The truth that makes men free is for the most part the truth which men prefer not to hear." --Herbert Agar |

"The secret of making money is saving it. It is not what a man earns - Not the amount of his income, but the relation of his expenditures to his receipts, that determines his poverty or wealth." ~~Unattributed, in Charlie E. Jones, Quotes Are Tremendous, pg. 180

Good advice on how to keep from being broke before payday, so I thought it deserved a mention here...
"When I cash my check, I buy at least one, usually two to three rolls of quarters, then put them in my "home savings jar" when I get home. Bills are attractive to look at, lightweight, and just scream to be spent. Coins on the other hand are heavy, cumbersome, and not so attractive to look at, therefore the temptation to spend is not so great. I know it may sound crazy, but it really works. This is a form of "paying yourself first" that might work for you. Please consider it." ~~Carol, blogger from SavingAdvice.com |

I once read a great quote that said something like "The secret to happiness is not in having more but in being satisfied with less." That has sort of become my mantra. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to track down the source. Does anyone know it?
