It is not always about how much money you make, but how you spend it.

Slightly paraphrased.

"Dad, Mrs. Stain's mom is in the hospital and it looks very bad. We don't have the money to put gas in the car to get there and the checking account is overdrawn. Could we come down to your place halfway there and borrow the rest?" - Me.

A few moments like that are all the motivation I need.

Continuous Effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlocking our potential. ~Winston Churchill

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.

A gold coin and a quarter has the same value if they are just sitting at the bottom of an ocean. This is the same with your talents.

You can get anything in life you want as long as you help enough others get what they want.

The value of your labor is not in its intensity but the number of people who benefits directly from your labor.

I have to agree with you!

The "pay yourself first" are said by the financial investment industry to get you to pay your self first so that you will have $$ to invest in their funds and schemes.

It is far better to pay yourself LAST...that way you get the debt paid down and out of the way first, get the obligations and liabilities out of the way, then with what is left, you take for yourself.

The crowd likes the platitudes such as "pay yourself first"...and other platatides too....the crowd is usually wrong....be a maverick...do what is exceedingly obvious, even as the "experts" say otherwise.

yea but for some pay yourself first is the only way because when you do it last if you have a lot of bills then it may not get done.

Jason, at your young age, that platitude sounds idealistic, and wonderful, noble, and altruistic, but in practice, in real life, in reality, it is far from true.

The best way to build wealth is to concentrate on your self, your own situation. Let others worry about their own nest egg. This is not to suggest you go at it alone, but rather to focus and concentrate on your own dealings first and foremost. This is the American way, the power of the individual, the maverick...otherwise, what you describe in your post is socialism, and you know where that got the USSR ;-) In in America, we can be individualistic, yet at the same time, a good neighbor....strong tall fences make strong neighbors...that sort of thing....

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be
tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." - Cicero - 55 BC
