Yep! and we are only in our late 30's - some hard work and a little as an early inheritance! We don't have any cc debt so it makes is sooooo much easier to save! Next we will work at paying off my husbands car (at 4.8% interest)
Financial Freedom here we come!!!!!

That is great!! When I paid off our house, i got my husband a t shirt with a picture of the house on it. It said, "my house and it's paid for" (of course he won't wear it)
I have one car payment and one land payment, then I will be debt free too!

My goals are mostly short term.

I'm not making tons of money as a grad assistant, so I need to make sure I'm saving enough to pay all the bills! My goal is to only have SUBSIDIZED loans for grad school. My classes this fall and next spring will eat up my yearly subsidized stafford loan allowance, but I have a summer class I'll have to take next summer. My goal is to have enough saved up so that I don't have to tap into unsubidized loans to pay for the summer course (at 6.8%).

Any money I make above bills and saving for my Summer '07 course will go toward a vacation fund (i.e. from babysitting and from selling bags).

I was saving for a holiday to Western Australia next year. Even the cheapest airfares will cost us $2500 return for the four of us. The problem is that it is to visit my sister who wants us to come over but whenever we are together she takes great delight in putting me and my family down. When I say we are not going to go over for a visit if she is going to act that way she starts to whinge and carry on. So now we are not going and am putting more money aside for our trip to China in 2014. I lvoe my sister its just that I can't stand to be around her.

1) Retirement - husband in 2011/2012ish?
2) Me - Never have to work again fund - he's considerably older and although he'll soon be able to collect SS - if he were to pass away before I turn 60 then it'd be back to the grindstone for me! MUST SAVE $$'S - Make WISE investment decisions!!!
3) Mortgage payoff - no CC - no car payments. We have money set aside in a CD that will provide us enough to replace the two relatively new 2005/2001 vehichles we have now.

Wow thats great! It seems to be retirement/financial freedom and then schooling for kids and travel.

Anyone saving for something that may be considered to be "unconventional" - no judgement of course!

I'm saving for a 14 day trip to Europe that I will be going on in July. I signed up over a year ago so that I would be able to make payments on it . . .

If anyone should be able to throw a fun bash, Ima, it would be you, and thanks for the vote of confidence.

Just think of the small town scandal -- Ima and her frugal friends whooping it up out there.

Gosh, this party could be interesting. If you wanted to be frugal, you could have us all bring a dish. That would save some money on the food. Perhaps have advertisers provide the plates, napkins and such. We could really be creative here!

Well, princess, what would your bring when you fly down? I have some great potatoes made with carmalized onions and chicken broth and topped with Parmesan cheese.
