Default Fun Trips

Hubby and I are going to Canada to the African Lion Safari in August. Has anyone been there? I hear the monkeys jump on your car while you're driving through! lol.

What are some of the places you enjoyed going to that were fun?

i haven't been too many places because traveling from an island is a pain but i've always had fun visiting vietnam... i went with my mom when i was 18 and again with mom and DH when i was 23... it's a great place to go just for the experience, especially if you go with somebody... preferably somebody who's familiar with the country... of course, i've seen people go backpacking thru by themselves and have a blast too...

Oh you travel from an island? I've never been out of the USA other than Canada. My parents were full-blooded Indian; Mom Cherokee and Dad Blackfoot and their parents were raised in here in the States. I can imagine Vietnam was quite a place to see. Thanks for sharing!!

I love the beach! Any beach! But my favorite beach was in Cozumel, Mexico. Beautiful! But the beach in Kitty Hawk, N.C. amazed me just as much as did the one in Rhode Island and in Florida. I just love the ocean. It doesn't matter where.

I did love the beach at Pensacola Florida though that was years ago! My husband's family live in Rhode Island and they had a family reunion near a beach in 1999. Thanks for mentioning the beach in Rhode Island Kris!!!!

lol.. joy joy, yeah i live in hawaii, which is super high COL but i love it here... i was raised here and my family is here so i can't imagine living anywhere else for long... plus we have the best of both worlds... we have gorgeous, soul cleansing ocean and really awesome volcanic peaks... in fact, if you want to you can think of hawaii as a series of moutains (created by volcanic activity) in the middle of an ocean...
the only thing that sucks about travel is you always have to get on a plane, even to visit the other islands... and there is no such thing as a road trip... sometimes i think it would be really cool if we were able to just hop in a car and go exploring and i think you guys are so lucky...of course there are pros and cons to living anyplace and i guess it all evens out...
lol... anybody want to guess where most people from hawaii go for vacations?

Alaska is outstanding. Been there twice, once flew into Anchorage, then drove to Homer, Valdez, Kenai Peninsula, Chugach Mts, then another time went to Juneau, which you can't drive to.

Costa Rica was an adventure, nearly bitten by a coral snake, got lost in a banana plantation after being forced to take a shortcut thru it cus a bridge on the dirt road was washed out. Jungle and its critters, lots of monkeys, fascinating.

Sanibel Island in FL was great cus they have tons of seashells, and i like nothing bettern than to stroll for miles with my eyes on the sand.

Switzerland, germany and Austria: all equally nice for summer vacations.

Outside of Canada, i haven't been abroad for over 10 years but i hope that changes in next few years. woudl love to return to europe. There's so much to see.

wow. some of those places sound great...
actually boe, some of them, the fishermen mostly, do go to alaska once in awhile... both my dad and grandpa have gone...DH wants to go someday...
fern, those places sound great... i hope to travel to europe and other interesting places someday...
scrava, japan is another great idea... i do know some people that have gone there and enjoyed it... mostly the japanese vacation in hawaii though... they love it here since there are many places in waikiki/downtown that are japanese friendly...
vsjhoc... got it in one... lots and lots of people from hawaii go to las vegas...
i know people that go at least once a year since there are local companies that offer cheap charter fares to vegas... if you book far in advance, it's something like $500 for 4days/5nights trip with airfare, shuttle to hotel, hotel stay (only at one of 3 Boyds hotels) and 3 meal vouchers a day....
we actually won a gift certificate for a trip at a christmas party
and so we are planning to go next april... and it won't cost anything except whatever we spend on food (above the voucher amount), gambling, and souviniers... we're really looking forward to it...

i also have an admission about our trips to vietnam... we wouldn't have been able to afford them if my mom hadn't paid for our plane tickets, which were almost 1K each... of course, she got plenty of perks out of that so everybody was happy... we got a great trip we wouldn't trade and she got to use our luggage (we had to put all our stuff for the month in one suitcase) to bring stuff home for her family, she had us to carry the luggage, help her out, etc... her and her friend she took are both over 60 so they definately needed the help... poor DH... the hotels we stayed at didn't have elevators (except the last one in saigon) and he ended up carting 60lb suitcases up several flights of stairs although we've paid stuff like hotels, food, trasportation, etc... more than once...

so yeah, any traveling we've done hasn't cost us anything for airfare although we've paid for things like hotel, food, transportation, gifts, etc...

We love to travel. I have visited 18 US States and will be visiting Vermont week after next, so that will make 19.

I have been to Canada, Mexico, Belize, Bahamas, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Dominican Republic, St. Thomas and Israel. (I spent a few hours in Heathrow Airport in London once, but that doesn't really count for anything.)

Lots of fun experiences in all of those places.
