It seems to me that at one point (granted it could have been a while ago) that Walmart used to put out circulars to show what was on sale. They don't even list it on their website. Is there anyway to know other than wandering around the store?

A multipage Wal-Mart ad was in my mail today/

they issue a circular once a month with the exception of the holiday season and the occasional special event flyer (Father's day, Summer something or other, etc.)
even so, very rarely is anything in there "on sale", it will all be labeled as either a special buy (limited quantities bought just for the event whose price will be the same as long as they have any), rollback (price was reduced already, they're just telling you about it), or every day low price. the stores in my area are usually very aggressive about matching prices in the ads for the local competitors though, so sometimes the best flyer is the other guy's. just bring them to walmart and do all the shopping in one place. |

that statement doesn't make any sense their "store brand" is the great value and sam's choice labels. the items themselves are manufactured by a wide variety of companies, some actually also produce some of the name brand items. some of the stuff sucks, some of it is fine but a blanket statement doesn't work (there isn't a big factory somewhere with "Great Value" on the outside that makes both cheese and cat litter or whatever). and I grew up in Texas, each individual HEB has all the potential to "suck" as does each individual Wal-Mart (Target, Kroger, Albertsons, Walgreens, etc.) that said, I love HEB as a company and wish they would hurry the heck up and expand further north. |

I've never even heard of HEB - it's a southern store?
I have no problem with the Wal-Mart store brand - but their customer service is terrible. We went there to purchase a bike for my son's birthday. It was on the clearance rack in front of the store. They had to page a manager four times before someone came to unlock the bike from the rack. When we got in to pay, it rang up wrong and - you guessed it - they had to page a manager another four times, holding up the entire express check-out line. Ugh. I see their store ads about once a month. They don't come with the paper, but separately with other ads. |

My husband works at a bicycle shop. Practically every single person who brought their bikes in for repairs brought their bikes from Wal-Mart.
Their bikes are totally fine, but they purposefully do not assemble the bikes right and they do not put lube on the bikes while assembling them. As a result, most of the bikes they sell meet untimely deaths. |

and that means what? there's a mass conspiracy to intentionally misassemble bikes at a company that would give you a refund on something that still has a Kmart price tag on it?! (it happens more often than you would care to imagine) the people that assemble the bikes are no different than the people who gather carts, run the registers, unload the trucks, if that's what they were hiring for the day you applied, congratulations, you are now a bike assembler. are they put together crappily (yes, I make words up as I go along)? yes. do you want a good bike? then buy it from a bike shop like I do. there is no way on God's green earth I would purchase a bicycle for serious use from a Wal-Mart (Target, Sears, Kmart, etc.) a disposable bike that will get used and cast aside in a summer (i.e. kid's bike) sure, but not something I plan to use for serious fitness or commuting. |

Customer service does leave something to be desired. My wife (pregnant with our second child) and 3 year old daughter went in to purchase me a grill for Father's Day and couldn't get anyone to help her get the large, heavy box off the top (?) shelf. She asked one employee who said they would send over someone who worked in that dept. THey never came. Another customer finally helped her get it down and then they wouldn't help her out with it to the car (no one available). They also messed up at the checkout and told her she had to go to customer service to correct the problem THEY created. All told, 45 minutes to "run" into walmart and get a grill. On Walmarts behalf though, I wrote an email expressing my disappointment and the asst. mgr. did call me personally, spent 15 minutes on the phone with me and left a gift card for $20 in my wifes name at the customer service counter. At least he tried to make it right.

Wow, I'm really impressed. I wrote to Wal-Mart once with a complaint and never even got the courtesy of a response. Maybe I should try again with my latest complaint...

I ama glad that the nearest wal mart if 25 miles away. I spend too much money if I go. We only go about 2 times a year!

One time, I was in line at walmart. The cashier got into a fight with the person behind me. They screamed at each other and tossed all my stuff around, breaking things. It was a huge scene. I just walked out. I'll now go to walmart less then once a month. I get tons of stuff that I can actually get cheap, like paper goods, and if the lines are short, I'll actually buy it. However, if I get upfront, or can't find exactly what I want. I just walk out. Saving 1 penny on a toilet paper isn't worth waiting 25 minutes in a stinky line only to deal with a nasty underpaid cashier working a tiresome third shift. I've actually left whole carts full of stuff in line and walked out because they take too long. |
