Default Thieves at yard/garage sales

Some people make a hobby of going to these sales. Others make a hobby of having them.
Then their are crooks who go to them to steal!
I have known people who have had items stolen at their sales and many times I have seen sellers who secure jewelry to something so it won't be ripped off and the seller will have to detach it before selling it. .

I was out at sales last Sat. and I usually lock my car doors. I was careless this time and didn't lock it. Fortunately I hadn't purchased anything but had a Scooby Doo lunchbox on the passenger seat .
It was not a collectible, but maybe whoever stole it thought it was.
I had kept it their for months..kept personal items like hand wipes, lotion ETC. stored there.
I'm glad I didn't have anything of value in the car.
I will be more careful from now on..... aware that there are those who go to yard sales for dishonest reasons.

sheesh...that's terrible... it's good that they didn't get anything valuable...
i guess i've gotten spoiled living in some of the safer areas of hawaii and going to yard sales on a secured (gotta get thru the security at the front gate) military base... i've left my purse sitting in the front seat of the unlocked car when i went to yard sales and nothing ever happened... of course, we tend to park where we can see our car from the yard sale....

This happens to our friends who have frequent yard sales. They sell all kinds of things, but tools are what gets ripped off the most.

We've never knowingly had an adult take our stuff. But we've caught several children either accidentally or purposely walking off with toys, dolls, etc.
