I am 5' 7 1/2" and weigh between 145-150 depending on the day. I exericise two, maybe three times a week and watch what I eat. Girl I wear a size 4/6! Put me in heals and tight clothes and you could push me down a runway! You have two to three inches on me! You don't need to lose weight! All the weight loss in the world will not solve flabby muscles! Tone up or except it. There's no such thing as a quick fix and it's not healthy to do it. It's along the same lines of saying to want to save money, but don't want to stop spending. Well then the only way to do it is earn more....AKA EXERCISE!!!! No one else can do it for you and muscle is going to weigh more than fat, so don't get stuck on numbers!

well i appreciate that - and for sure i should be more motivated-- and i know toning and stuff would be great- but in terms of just not eating as much to help shed some pounds to juct get me started and then hopefully pick it up or get motivated from there-- so i just want to know what works (besides excersising)

Okay, have you been to a place that will measure your body fat? It may cost a little money, but do it and tell me what your percent body fat is. Then maybe you can convience me that there is fat there to loose.

If there was an over the counter diet pill that really works, everyone in the world would be taking it. I have tried a few and nothing works. A doctor can prescribe something, but at your height and weight, I doubt any doctor would.
I walk on my treadmill while watching tv. I also went on a low carb diet and lost 18 pounds, but I am stuck and not losing any more.

Okay, I went to the web site of a place I like to visit. I typed in 5' 10" and 145 lbs to see that your BMI - Body Mass Index, basically a ratio of weight and height, is and it's 20.8.

Note, at anything below 20 they will counsel you to gain lean muscle weight! Only extreme athlets who are closely monitored by professionals should have BMI's in the teens. See what I mean about not having weight to loose!

The ideal median ideal weight for your height is 150 lbs. Detailed break down by frame type:

Small frame: 132-145
Medium frame: 142-156
Large frame: 152-173

So I would advice you to do a little research on yourself and see if it would be healthy for you to even lose weight. Personally, I'd say no.

You're right you don't. But I think you need to prove it to yourself, and maybe a professional will be better than I at helping you come to terms with the fact that you are in a pretty good place where you are.

A BMI at 25 or below is considered very good for a female. How old are you?

Why would I hate you. I was just wondering if you had a problem with your self esteem. You are young and thin, just what every woman wants to be.

AGH, cellulite....I hate that as much as I hate stretch marks! and I haven't even had kids yet! There are some creams I've seen advertised. I tried one once, but it was a waste of money. But since I have been tone and lost my extra weight (I'll still argue you don't have any to lose) I haven't noticed it really. But I honestly don't know if being tone helps with cellulose. I'd think it would, but I've never read anything on it. Aren't the nice 'curds' created when the surface areas 'fall' a little? Sorry, not much help there, I pretty much just keep those areas covered anyway. Whoever invented control top panty hose has my thanks!

You have a BMI of about 21. Normal range is 20-25, so you are well within normal. You have no need to be losing weight.

OTC "diet" pills are not a good idea for anyone due to unknown effects and such, plus they really don't do all that much.

If you have areas you need to tone, exercise is the ONLY way to do that, and no matter how hard you exercise, you can't tone cellulite, only muscle. Sorry.

It sounds to me like you are looking for a magic pill and may have unrealistic expectations.

By the way, I'm a physician.

Okay, some actual advice. I don't really have any idea if this will work for you, but these are things that helped me while I was trying to lose weight. I lost 50 lbs over about 6-7 months. The first 25 were easy compared to the last ten! I still fight with the last five everyday! Since you only have the 'hard stuff' to lose, don't expect this to be quick or easy and you will constanly have to work to maintain it.

1. Count calories. Yes it's a pain and we all hate it, but if you don't have a map you don't know were you are going. I shoot for 1200 calories a day (I'm 30 so you may want to add a little) and am happy if I average 1500 for the week.

2. Drink lots of water, constantly. Drink, drink, drink and drink some more.

3. Cut all the sugar you can from your diet. Certainly no carbonated drinks!

4. Watch your portion sizes like a hawk. Cut every meal in half and put the other half away or in a 'to go' box before you even start eating.

5. Eat very slowly! It takes time for the message to get to your head that you are full.

6. Eat balanced meals and more fruits and veggies. Take a multi-vitamin helps to.

7. Stay away from activites or events that are centered around food.

8. Play and be active. Walk the dog, take up volley ball, swimming, hiking whatever you like. Find friends with the same interest. You don't have to exercise, just be active.

9. Get support from those around you. Let them be your police and enforcers. This can be a big help, or if they aren't with you, a big hendrence.

10. Be optimistic and patient. Tell yourself this is a life time management thing. You will always be watching your weight. Just like a diabetic must watch their blood sugar and manage it, we all need to be aware of how what we do and what we put into our bodies effects it. Don't compare yourself to others, just ask yourself if are doing the best you can. If not make changes and adjust. If you are, then accept and love yourself as you are. We have to work with what we are given.

THERE IS NO MAGIC PILL!!!

My husband went on a diet last year. he cut out everything with sugar including soda. If he has a mixed drink at night, he uses diet sprite with it. No more chips, donuts, fried foods. He lost 40 pounds and has kept it off a year.

I find that dieting and personal finance have a lot of similarities. Take a look at what works for you with your budgeting and see if you can use it for your dieting.

Better than diet pills

Stop drinking soda, over 100 calories in each can.
Move more even a little will help.
Play with your kids or someone elses. (You'll burn a ton of calories and have fun too)

Diet pills are like wrinkle creams TONS of promises and NO results! Save your money!

Your right you wont see the results of muscle training as much untill you lose flab that covers the muscle in the first place. However a pound of muscle will burn fat faster even when the body is resting.
Those pills won't help to pep you up any better than a cup of coffee. The Fastest way to lose the flab is to excersize and weight train. You seem set on the diet pills. If they really worked so great do you think that there would be so many fat people out there.

Sometimes I wish I could have come up with the idea to put a label on a bottle and charge $29.99 for it. PULEASE! Then you could just send me the money and I would be rich meanwhile you will be getting ready to send me another chunk of money to try the new and improved because the last one didn't work. But wait I could then take the same product (basically) put an entirely new label with a different brand name and wait for you to buy it too, because the first two products didn't work the way you expected.

Man that sounds like one of those internet scams. It makes me wonder exactly how much money do you think Americans spend on wonder pills each year?

Sorry for the book!
