No, I've never tried any diet pills or supplements and wouldn't touch then with a hundred foot pole! Remeber phen-fen? people died after taking that. Why take the chance?
I always have lost weight by cutting back (too lazy to exercise after chasing around two toddlers all day - THAT'S my exercise!). Last fall I went on South beach. I loved it - it took some getting used to, but once you have the basic concept, there's not much you can't eat. I lost about 20 lbs., as did DH, and still get compliments daily from co-workers. Just an idea - I researched the diet thoroughly before I started as I first thought it was just another fad diet, but it was written by a cardiologist and has a lot of basic, good ideas behind it (i.e. no sugar, more veggies).
It's your choice, but since you are asking for opinions...there is no quick fix. Even if you lose the weight with a pill, I would bet you are going to gain it all back - and probably more too.

THERE IS NO EASY WAY! There is no pill that substitutes for exercise. If you would exercise regularly, you wouldn't be so tired after work. You would have more energy and probably lose some inches in the process. You may not lose much weight since you are already at the low end of normal and have no need for further weight loss.

low carb works well for me because I like meat and cheese and dislike fruit and vegetables. I do walk on my treadmill every day for exercise.

Albie, I have a similar body, so I can relate.

Hoodia is designed to make your brain believe that it is not hungry. You can google away, loads of info all around. It is just that, though, it changes your brain chemistry. I've known some people who felt it worked well, others who had serious trouble, from dizziness to falling down. Since it also tells your body you aren't thirsty, dehydration can be a problem.

CLA is a good supplement to help keep the body from storing fat on the belly, and has shown some positive results in preventing diabetes and heart disease, but the results are still coming in. It's natural, found in cheese, and I am not aware of any side effects.

Green tea extract has shown some positive benefits for weight as well as health. Things remain ancedotal.

The best is indeed to exercise and eat properly. Vitamins, calcium, etc. are still your best miracle pills.

about the whole 'your not fat thing'
I would guess my weight at 145.....I might add 5 if I were worried about rope strength or something...I am 6 ft tall (and yeah red hair, really) I think that leaves my BMI in the upper teens..I know it leaves my midwives telling me to gain all the weight I want when pregnant (the only time I go to a Dr usually)

So why do I look in a mirror and see fat? Lots of fat? Everywhere, arms, legs, hips, belly, thighs...ankles..ok I think my wrists are fairly slim..but thats it....

I call it fat glasses (like rose colored ones, only they are fat colored)....either I am wrong or the Docs are wrong...and since DH, and less biased strangers, seem to like the profile, I figure I am wrong, I am not fat, just a little untoned......I hope..

so about that whole appetite suppressant thing
I am always hungry......always..seriously, I eat like constantly....ask if I am hungry and the answer is either "yes" or "starving!"(depending on how polite I am)...... I stop my self after 2 or 3 'servings...then I switch foods...when my kids prevent me from eating I stop...other than that..I never fill up.... I do not however eat anything and everything..I insist on lots of water, and I limit quantities of any particular food (I can have more food, but no, not more than a serving of chocolate..or two...ok three but no more!)

I doubt there is anyway to take real food and real habits and put them in pill form to make yourself 'perfect'. That and I have no desire to be on a pill for the rest of my life!

This is an important statement that really hasn't been brought up yet in this thread.

There are appetite supressant pills available by prescription that do work to an extent. However, their effect is short-lived, perhaps up to 6 months or so. After that, your body has gotten used to their presence and adjusts accordingly, so the pill no longer continues to have the same effect. So what happens, you gain back all the weight you lost (and often more) unless you have used that time to - yes, that's right - get on a good exercise regimen and improve your eating habits.

You can try any pill, any herb, any supplement you want, but you can not change the bottom line. Losing weight (if you need to) requires long-term dietary changes and exercise.

If you don't need to lose weight, like the OP, you can try anything you want, including OTC or Rx diet pills, and most likely won't lose any weight because your body naturally regulates your weight to where it should be assuming everything else is ok. So at that point, you are taking all the risks that come along with the drugs with no possible benefit.

Diet pills or diets do not last .
You must change your eating habits for life.
Eat lots of fruits and veggies---raw is best for you
eat several times a day--small amounts( if fools your body into burning fat)
eat things like a few almonds every day helps --give a nature energy boost-
and helps many other ways .
eat no cane sugar--& no salt - if you need sugar use xylitol (natural sweetener
or Stevia---from a health food store ) also use seasalt .(alkaline balance)
cancer can not grow in an alkaline-balance system.
drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day.
eat very little red meat ( it is acid base) very little meat --small amounts of poutry and fish.
do some form of exercise at least 3 times a week --walk -swim--what ever works best for you

There are quite a few green teas that work to boost metabolism and give you energy.

If you are hungry doing something else takes my mind off of my hunger. Drinking water or eating a fruit/veggie snack helps too.

Well I can REALLY relate to your problem. I understand too when you are tall everyone sees the BMI as underweight situation. I am 5 foot 9 and weighed just today at 139.2
But of course it is that time of the month all women ENJOY! NOT! LOL
I have had back surgery and the only doctor that would even discuss my weight is my back doctor. He told me ----> am I to stay at my present weight! More weight more stress on my frame and since I have that crumbley back thing 100% I can not handle the stress of a few extra pounds! Also of course, as several folks know,
more weight, more breasts and
heavier breasts, (Boobs are fat) in turn back problems! Most doctors look at a tall person and say your weight is just fine. BUT Physcologically, physically, and even health wize it is way better to be under-weight than over. The satisitics show that over and over again.
Also if you are like me you can not just run out and buy another complete wardrobe when you gain weight! LOL
So Actually my closet and my clothes with-in it tale me when I need to drop a few pounds.
The main reason I prefer also to watch my weight like a hawk is because it is way easier to lose 10 pounds than 50. I prefer to be at a certian weight, and diet regularly than to find a quick fix every now and then.
Here is my advice to a weight loss thing or what I do....I know some of you ladies will bash me because the pharmicutical companies tend to bash herbs to the max.....
But remember they make millons off of penicillin and it was a herb at first ans look at Codene..
Taurine 350 mg
Red Chinese Genseg 40 mg
A prego vitamin without iron ---makes me sick!
Also I have found that the best thing that makes me resist my biggest weakness, any bread thing is to really pig out on meat! With in my case, my blood pressure and etc are great!

Sorry it should read 'hot and spicy' meaning burn our mouth peppers..
and research suggests (not proves, just suggests) that any pepper will increase your metabolism, and start you feeling full faster.

I'll speak for myself, but I will assume that most of us meant our comments more out of concern than any form of meanness or condemnation. There are many people that simply are not healthy in their weight loss. And many more who like they are looking for the quick and easy way out of financial problems are looking for quick and easy ways out of about just everything in life.

Puppypal, I am honestly supportive of you and doubly so for the back problems you have. I've know people like you with health problem who keep weight off for that reason.

However I'm always going to err on the side of caution. If someone who by their numbers, and yes they are just numbers, but they exist for a reason, seams to be in a great place; I'd like to dig a little more to make sure that there are not underlying issues that are much more relavent then weight. In your case it's obvious that your health concerns add another reason or perspective.

There is nothing wrong with being thin, we all want that, I like myself, how I look and how I am treated much better when I am thin. I think those that are thin deal with alot of jealously from those who 'wish' they had their problems. Yes, there are considerable health risks with being overweight, but taken to the other extreme there are just as many problems with being too thin. Don't kid yourself just because this not the current epidemic. You can kill yourself either way.

So I still stand by my advise that the best way to get rid of the flab is to tighten and firm up the muscle, that takes exercise not dieting. If she has fat to loose that will naturally come off in the process.

I saw hoodia just advertised on the television. It was called smart burn hoodia. It was sold over the counter in places like wal mart and rite aid.
