I don't see the need to eliminate the penny. Then, things would be rounded up to the the nearest nickel. I would rather deal with the pennies.

People are so dismissive of the penny that it has been to my benefit. I accpet those discarded pennies. I adopt them, roll them, deposit them. So I would lose a few bucks a year helping people dispose of the unwanted pennies. I could live with it, but I would miss the kick of taking thrown away money and getting real money for it.

I'd miss the penny. I wish that vending machines would have the ability to take them! I believe someone mentioned that above.

I guess I wouldn't mind seeing the penny go . . . as long as we were still able to trade in the pennies we find lying around for nickels/quarters/etc after the change. I would hate to see all of my pennies go to waste!

I want them to stay... I have a big pikachu bank to put my pennies in. I'm waiting for it to be full , so I can change them in the bank or somewhere. I can give it to a charity later on.

In Australia we haven't had 1 or 2 cent coins for years. Yet you still see items priced at $5.03 or $9.98 etc. 1 and 2's are rounded down to 0 and 3's and 4's are rounded up 5 . We have had no problems. There were report of a few people buying a lot of items that were marked at 12c for example. Paying for it which would be 10c. Doing a separate transaction for each. Supermarkets had to bring in a fair play policy.

I recently found ou it costs moe to make one than it is worth, but I still like the amount, I would rather they figure out a way to make it cost less to make, than get rid of it.
