Actually, high-quality VCRs cost more now than they did a year or two ago. Lot's of cheap ones: Emerson, Sylvania, RCA, Zenith, Magnavox. If you want a better one: Panasonic, JVC, Sony, etc., you'll have to pay more unless you happen to get a refurbished or used unit. Use Froogle and MySimon. Check eBay. [Added] Here's one at Circuit City: Panasonic VHS HiFi VCR (PV-V4525S) Nothing special, but a good name and free shipping. If you shop around, you can probably beat this, but probably not by too much. [Second Added Comment] Check Overstock.com. They have Sony and Panasonic, among other names, for around that same price. Plus, they have some refurbished items like DVD/VCR combos from Toshiba, Panasonic, etc. at around $69.99, etc. |

There were several on my freecycle list group today. You may want to check that out too. We really don't use the VCR too much anymore. We do have some older videotapes that we watch but for the most part everything is dvd now.

We had a GE one that lasted 14 years (with three kids and lots of playing). Anyway, when we finally laid it to rest we bought another GE, thinking it would be great. It is a piece of junk!

My parents still have a Zenith VCR from 1985 that got a lot of use from kids and now grandkids. Still works fine.
As the saying goes, they don't make things like they use to. |
