Default Garage Sale

I know there is probably a forum on this somewhere, but I can't find it.
I would like to have a garage sale. I have absolutely no idea how to do this. Any advice?

There is all sorts of info about having a garage sale. Try typing i

"How to have a garage sale" in Google. There are also books. Check ebay or Amazon.

Here are some suggestions from one who has had a sale: me!

Decide where you are going to have it. Some people in my community set up on the side of a road. Others have theirs on their front porch. That is what I did.
Ask your neighbors to join in. The more the merrier and it will attrack more lookers/ buyers!
Place signs up with arrows and date and time of your sale.
Place a free ad on Craigs list!
I marked the price on all my items which was time consuming.
My prices were not set in stone though . Most people were looking for bargains and were not shy in asking if I would accept a lower price.
I also had a FREE box very visible.
Good luck!
Bonnie

Sounds like a very reasonable price.

Why don't you do a search on ebay and see if anyone has listed those hats and if they have bids?
Just a suggestion...

Allyourworth is right. Before you give away your mint hats at a garage sale,
find out what they're going for on ebay. You may be pleasantly surprised how much you can get for them. NASCAR stuff is outrageously popular. I know a mom who runs her own online store just selling NASCAR clothes, etc. She gave the impression she was doing pretty well....

Want the most out your garage sale? Take out an ad in all the local papers.
Describe a little what your selling. Good luck!

Is e-bay all that accurate? I don't know. Sometimes I think the prices are inflated. Kind of like the stock market. What do you think?

Like anything, prices are set at what people are willing to pay.

You can't really compare the prices between ebay and a garage sale. Your item gets a much wider, diverse audience on ebay and is visible for 7 full days as opposed to maybe 16 hours at your garage sale.

On the other hand, you don't have to deal with the excessive listing fees, shipping costs, and buyer fraud when selling at a garage sale.

What about books? I'm not sure what to charge for hardcovers and paperbacks. Any suggestions?
