I have one and it is simple, but I do not care for the bread it makes. Not much taste really. I plan on selling it at my garage sale, wish you lived closer!!

I had a breadmaker given to me about 7 years ago -- a cheapie. I used it until it wore out. This last fall, I purchased a Cuisinart and I absolutely love it. It was pricey, even on sale, but since I bake 2-3 loaves a bread a month, the ease and usefullness really pays off. It comes with a great recipe book and the white bread is fabulous. It has recipes for wheat bread which is great, and there are other recipes for other things.

Tightwad Gazette Volume II page 153-156 has a good article on breadmakers. I don't know where it'd be in the Complete TG.

I make bread using my breadmachine almost every day. I've used a Breadman in the past and was happy with it. Currently using one by Toastmaster. I've used it to make white bread, wheat bread, wheat rolls, and pizza dough. It has been really easy to use. Just put all the ingredients in and push the start button. I like to use the timer feature on it too. I'll put all the ingredients into it in the morning and set the timer to have it done a little before dinner time.

I have a breadmaker. It saves me a lot by not having to buy the bread. Sometimes i use it twice a week, sometimes I don't use it for like whole month if I can get free bread.
It costs me ~ 30c to make a 2 lb loaf, but if you buy it at a stire it would cost you at least $1. The thing I don't like about homemade bread is that it doesn't stay fresh as long as the bread from the store. |

We have a breadmaker; I think we used it five times. It sits and gathers dust on a shelf because I'd rather make bread by hand. Try the hand method; it's really easy and a good stress buster. The more you do it the better the bread gets!

I use my kitchenaid to do the kneading, then bake.
so I sort of get the ease of machine kneading, but the better bread. (IMO real bread beats bread machine bread) But I am terrible at white bread, I make good whole wheat, but can buy it cheaper, and I make pizza dough. a lot of pizza dough! |
