Thumbs up Re: do you shop at savealot?

I shop SAVE A LOT all the time!!! I find it to be a great place to save money on groceries. We are a family of 7, 2 parents - 5 kids, and my money goes a whole lot further. It's a great place for snacks, juice, frozen foods, ice cream, etc!! I also buy their brand of soft drinks, .59 cents for a 2 liter. My kids prefer their soft drink brand of Sprite and Mountain Dew over the real thing. And I must say I agree with them. I thank God that we have a Save A Lot in our community, it really helps keep our food buget in tact!!

Went to SAL today and here are some of the prices I got on items:

Tide liquid 100 oz $4.99
Wheat Thins wheat crackers .99 cents
Cookies and Cream ice cream $2.19
Doritos Large bag $2.00
100 count freezer pops for the kids $1.99
Milk $3.19
Their brand cereal $1.99 various varieties - and they pass the kids taste test!!!
4 frozen salmon fillets $2.99 - I have used these before and they are yummy. They are skinless and boneless, all I do is rinse them under cold water and bake or grill with seasoning. Yummy!!

Not to mention the occasional variety of Whiting, Ocean Fish, Tilapia, Pollock, Orange Perch, etc. I've been able to get so much more fish in my diet, thanks to SAL.

I love Save A Lot! It's cool I can shop there without a shopping list and never spend over $40.

I don't like Savealot at all. I bought pork chops there once and when I opened the package, they were spoiled on the underside. I have found expired products several times. The most recent was sour cream cartons that were expired -- yuck I told the manager but he didn't seemed very concerned and didn't take them off the shelves -- at least not right away.

And the store is kind of dingy looking.

A lot of their prices for their generic brands are almost the same as the brand names so there's no sense in shopping there if I'm not going to save enough money to make it worthwhile.

I don't have SAL in my area but I have Aldi's. I went there once and I was not impressed. First of all it;s in a bad neighborhood nad I saw a drug deal in progress in the parking lot.

I was not impressed wtih their merchandise either. The produce looked about to rot, the meat looked terrible.
