Hi capo,

I haven't read all the details yet, what does the 'permalink' thing mean at the top right of peoples frame mean / do?

permalink gives you a link directly to the specific comment (instead of posting the link to a thread and making a person search for the comment)

Question: One of my latest ventures is to sign-up for PPC sites - the sites where members are paid to click on ads, fill out surveys and play games. The real money comes through referrals you manage to get (i.e. people sign up through your link, and you get paid every time they click an ad.)

Actually, my son signed me up for one of these sites as HIS first referral, which annoyed me at first, but now I'm actually earning money without so much as one referrral (yet), but I digress.

I have a new domain which I'm not sure what to do with. For now, I'm using it as a page to post banners and links to the sites I've joined. It makes it easier for me to visit these sites daily and I hope it will also serve as a way to generate referrals.

Since I don't make money if someone goes to my page (I only make money if they actually decide to follow a link to sign-up for a site and even then, I only make money if they actually click ads and play games), is that considered an affiliate link?

P.S. I also realize I'm several days and several posts away from being able to link to anything in my sig.

In the old forums (before we switched to an updated version) there was a store where your could buy things with the points like changing your name color, changing your tag line, etc. Unfortunstely, the people that made that store didn't update it with the newer version and it no longer works, so the points haven't been able to buy anything since then.

We decided to take to heart what we have been hearing - we can't create another store, so we've decided to start giving away prizes which you can bid on using the points you have accumulated and we'll see how this works. If you have suggestions, let us know.

Are posters allowed to put their own google adsense links in their posts as you do Jeffrey?

Thanks in advance!

No - the area that you are referring to is limited to the article area where only staff can post (and is actually outdated since we used that method before the forums allowed code insertion automaically and before we started the savingadvice blog - I will have to take those out when I have some free time).

You must be a member for at least a week. Please see the first post in this thread.

Also links must be relevant to the conversation and not be referral links or self-promoting links.

There are certain areas such as freebies where you can't post until you have made 15 posts in the general sections - these are places where we get a lot of spam. Since you were able to post here, obviously you can post

Okay I'm super new to this. So here goes.

Extra income?

Have too many books? Go to a used bookstore that buys books, cds and videos. They usually give you a cheap price because they have to make a profit. But if the book is sitting in your house collecting dust, why not?

Have jewelry or clothes in good shape? Go to a consignment shop and pray they'll buy it. Don't regift, instead resell.

Other misc. stuff? There's the swamp meet and posting a cheap ad for a garage sale (apartment if you don't own your home like me.) Make sure you let things go cheap.

Problems?

Borrow money from a friend and can't pay back? Work it off by babysitting or doing some cleaning if your friend agrees.

There's a good sale and you don't have enough money for a big item like toilet paper? Half the price with a friend and take your share.

You're really desperate what do you do? There's selling your plasma but I wouldn't recommend it because you need good veins and you can sick. But if you're in dire straights contact home like E.T. or see if a church can help you out in the form of benevolence fund. Beware they're real picky on who they help.

Are you irresponsible with your money? Get a representative payee to handle your finances. Only people who are totally lost should do this because there's a fee.

Saving money?

Go to a beauty school for haircuts or let your hair grow longer.

I've been to a bakery outlet for bread that's out of date.

Don't buy nothing unless you absolutely need it.

Budget your eating out for the week or just stay home and cook your food.

Why am I writing this?

I'm an aspiring writer that's bored.
