How did you lose your old account? I just checked and there is no record of compugirl in our database. Did you delete it or just forget your password?

Re: Basic Forum Rules Links & Signatures
Well I entered in compugirl (at) gmail.com my email, to the request password because I forgot. I don't know why since I'm usually useing the same one on most boards.
I tried logging in with compugirl, i don't know maybe I used another username possibly lisajh or verified101?

Re: Basic Forum Rules Links & Signatures
yes, you're in the system with your username as your full email address, but is says you only have 1 post which was deleted (most likely because there was a link in it). I'm not trying to be harsh or anything, but the rules are set up so that the people posting here do so because they want to be part of this community. If you can live with the rules, I'm sure all the members will welcome you here.

Re: Basic Forum Rules Links & Signatures
That's fine. Is there a way you can delete that account for me then. I will do my part and participate.
I love this board seriously.
Besides the fact that you allow it at all is great, since most boards don't.
Oh and maybe you could put special regional areas for people in different countries. Since I'm from canada, some things are not relevant. You can move this post or edit it however you like.

Original account has been deleted as requested. Will talk to Nate about expanding the boards...he doesn't like doing it, but it may be time to do a bit of it.

Re: Basic Forum Rules Links & Signatures
Thanks for the patience you've extended. Running a board can be tiresome. But I do hope he expands it, there is just so much talk it would be great to see it categorized by country, at least Canada, UK, US, all english speaking countries anyhow.

You're allowed to add them once you have been a member here for a week and have made at least 15 posts.

It's nice to find a forum that isn't all spam. Thanks for keeping things in line.

Wish I could have found this thread earlier. Will put the web address in the signature. See if I've got it right this time.

Re: Basic Forum Rules Links & Signatures
I put a link in one of my posts before I had 15 posts. Is there something I need to do to correct that? Sorry about that. I guess I didn't read the rules very well. For some reason I remembered it being 15 points, not 15 posts. I just came back here to check the rules and found out that I made the mistake. Would you like me to go back and edit it out of my post, or is there some other process?

Re: Basic Forum Rules Links & Signatures
Jeffrey,
I am fine with the posting limits and 1 week duration. I actually think it should be a larger limit and longer period of time. I own my own websites and a forum which is/was bombarded with spam on a daily basis and I have on 483 members currently. I can only imagine the volume with 7000+ members and the number of posts daily here! sheesh
Some day I will put the link in my siggy but that isn't my motive here. I don't think 99.99% of your members would have an interest in my site anyhow.
Can I ask why you do not have affiliate links here? Appropriate ones similar to your google ads should not ruin the integrity of your forum. I think many would support your forum with all the quality information you have!
I commend you on a great site!

Yes, you are more than welcome to trade coupons. We do not allow people to sell coupons on the site.

Re: Basic Forum Rules Links & Signatures
Hi,
I just now found this thread and as I understand the rules, I've probably unintentionally broken them too by posting links to the US Census website in my last post. (Or does that not count?)
I think the thing that throws newbies who inocently post links is that we just look at other messages and figure whatever kinds of links other people are posting must be ok for everyone. IMHO the best solution might be to include a "rules about posting links" section with a BOLDed headline in the confirmation email you send to all new members. It wouldn't phase the spammers, but it probably would cut down on inocent tresspassers like me.
FWIW: You'll notice that in my "Is This True..." post, each link is preceeded by a proper page title so people who don't want to use the link can navigate to the pages directly. That's because one of my own pet peeves is people who use links to "tinyurl" or some similar redirect site that hides the true name and nature of the site you're being sent to. IMHO that's enough of a security risk that I simply don't click on such links. Any rules about that practice here?
