Update on What to do About My Job

I hadn't yet broached the subject to my boss about my house being for sale, and the impact of that on my job, but the mailman blew it for me and so i had to bring it up.

You see, he delivers to both my home and my office here in the same town. We're on friendly terms. He came in to the office last week and said in a loud voice, so are you selling your house??? He had seen a mailing/postcard my realtor sent out. Though i don't have a 4 sale sign out front, i was afraid he would see the broker's open house sign on the day they had that, so when he came to deliver mail at my office, i ran to the bathroom to avoid talking to him!)

Anyway, i decided to talk to the boss about it right away, cus i didn't want him hearing about it thru the grapevine, or as in this case, thru the mailman!

I was glad i did as i learned quite a lot about stuff i hadn't been aware of. To keep things anonymous here, suffice it to say i will be reporting to someone else in coming months becus my boss' job is changing. And that would mean commuting in to XXX (1 hour 1 way) at least weekly since the person i'd be reporting to works in our home office, but this is something i'm not interested in doing. So regardless of my own indecision about whether to look for a new job or stick with this one, looks like the decision has been made for me, as the current job is changing enough that i would prefer to look elsewhere for employment. Kind of too bad, but maybe it's for a reason....

Yep, I'm with you. Sounds like the road is already being made for you. At least it will give you the peace you are doing what is best.
