I drive to downtown Tampa. Once there, I trolley or walk. While Tampa is a small "big" city, it has good transport to all areas including historical districts.

I'm so surprised at how many here and small to no commutes!

I usually drive the 1/2 mile to my office, but sometimes walk when i have the time and no errands to run after work.

No bus stops here, not even a taxi. My husband drives to work and all over town picking up materials.

I drive. About 15 miles each way, and no real public transportation option

I think having a short commute gives us more time to work on money issues..less time energy spent on dealing with..driving

PS, I did look into public transportation, which there is, but for the smal distance I'm commuting, it would require someone to drive me to the nearest bus stop for that route... and then it would take about twice as long to get there, then I'd have to walk from the stop to work. It drags the <15 minute commute out to about 45 minutes, plus involves a car to get me to the stop anyway. Not worth it.

And, after day 1 at the new job -- even though it's more like 8-9 miles to get to the University, (<4 miles to the preschool where I used to work) it takes less time! It all depends on which way you're going...

I bought a little old 1982 Honda 250cc Motorcycle for $900 that I use to get to and from work every day (even in the winter!) My commute is about 2 miles each way, I live in center-city philadelphia, and with the 50+mpg, $35 a YEAR insurance, and no payments, its actually cheaper than driving and paying for parking, or taking the bus (which costs about $4 a day).

And it's fun!

No commute here but I get good exercize working here at home, I walk to the barn for work, then the garden, then in the house, then, then. LOL, probably put in 3-4 miles a day without even trying.

Hubby drives about 35 miles one way for work, no one to car pool with and his hours can vary so driving is mandatory for him.
