we just got married in Feb i and we spent 5,000 for a nice wedding... and i still felt like we scrimped and didn't feel that different after the wedding...
i really like your pictures and think you guys look great... and if your marriage is great then that's the best thing of all... i think i would have really enjoyed a wedding like yours... the best times of our day were when we were alone together and relaxing like in your photos... it's very normal to look back and see things that could be different... i do it too... i do like the PP's suggestion of doing something special for your anniversary... =) |

I went to a really fancy wedding for my hd cousin. There was a string band that played at the wedding, then another band that played at the wedding. There was a full sit down dinner for about 200 people, with full bar. Favors for all. The parents picked up the tab for everyone's fancy motel rooms. (I mean my dh's cousin) Most of the people were from out of town and stayed several days. I bet they spent $100,000 on the wedding.
The couple is already divorced! I spent $100 and have been married almost 30 years. Some friends did take pictures with regular cameras, and I am glad that I have those. |

i've been to weddings that cost less than $100 and ones that cost $20,000-50,000+.... thankfully nobody is divorced but i know that what you spend has little to do with what people remember.... i remember my friends justice of the peace wedding way more than those other ones...
the only reason ours got s0big is because we were the first children to get married from both our families and on my side i was the first grandchild to get married so we felt it would be nice to have a family wedding and bring everybody together.... otherwise we would have run away to the beach and gotten married... |

My wife and I did not much more money than you. We had a dinner at her parents house- her brother in law owns a restaurant and cooked a wonderful meal that we enjoyed with family and friends. We took pictures with my canon camera. We did a few customery things for her parents, but that was it. Three months later we got our marriage license and exchanged vows in a small wedding chapel near our apartment. We used the money we had saved on a down payment on a house instead. In a few months we will welcome our daughter.
