State Farm - It's under my name, but attached to my dad's account. Or something like that. I just pay the bill. When I actually have a car title in my name, I'll probably shop around for insurance.

Allstate for car - about to be for my condo as well.

I like em because they are cheap (for me at least). All insurance companies are a pita, so you might as well just get the cheaper policy.

Allstate for both auto and home. The only time I had a claim, it was handled promptly and to my complete satisfaction.

Liberty Mutual for about 2.5 years now - only one small claim. I've been happy with them.

Very pleased with Geico so far.

We are in NJ which is The Suck for car insurance rates (my insurance would be 1/3 of what it is now if I were still in western NY -- and that's with Geico's lower rates!). We have low rates though because I think Geico is fairly new to NJ and is trying to undercut all the other companies. State Farm, Progressive, AllState were all several hundred dollars more than Geico.

I also like that Geico doesn't go by credit score like Progressive -- they use education level and job as indicators as well. And as I have an undergrad degree, currently am a preschool teacher, and I am returning to graduate school now -- that bodes well for me and my car insurance!

Regarding Geico's system: http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/...ar/P147883.asp

We have StateFarm for Renter's Insurance.

abowers,

have you tried NJ Manufacturers?? I've been with them for years. The rates are low, plus you get a portion back at the end of the year in the form of a dividend.

Allstate. Haven't needed to use the auto but just had a massive claim on my home policy and they were amazing. Definitely will be sticking with them.

State Farm - home and auto

They treat long-time customers with low "customer loyalty" rates. I've been with them 15+ years.

We switched our auto policy to State Farm (mine was Nationwide, his was GEICO) when we bought homeowner's insurance.

State Farm was the only insurer that did not ask the breed of our dog, and everyone else was quite rude about it.

Geico for 10+ years because their service is excellent, fast, and their rates are often the lowest. Geico is a stellar company. Their online web site is fantastic too...every thing about them is top shelf.

Now a company at the opposite end is Mercury...they are the absolute worse.

GEICO for about 15 years - was on Pemco but had to switch when we left for DW's post-doc work; Pemco is WA state only. Been satisfied with G's responsiveness. When I get a newer car, I will probably search around for the best deal.

(*is this a bad time to point out that that the auto insurance model would probably work pretty well for health insurance?*)
