I think I've been zombified by SavingAdvice

In this morning's batch of e-mail, I received today's SavingAdvice Daily Money Saving Challenge. It was advice to check your hot water heater and, if it was set higher than 120, to turn it down to that level. In less than five minutes I was outside, then crawling under my house with a screwdriver. As it turns out, my hot water heater was set to about 135, so turning it down to 120 may prove to be of notable value. As I was performing this task, however, I couldn't help but smile when I thought of how I responded to the e-mail challenge.

Must... perform... SavingAdvice... challenge. I... await... further... instructions.

I'm on this site all day long, 5 days a week. Luckily, my job demands allow that.

I've seen so many other sites on various topics, and people can get so nasty with each other. The people here are very genteel, it's very nice to see people are really just trying to be helpful.

Yup. Fatwallet, for example, has a lot of great info. But you have to wear your asbestos underwear if you post there -- the flaming is crazy there.

It's not for the faint of heart.

Too many know-it-all twentysomethings that are fast on the trigger but short on life experience. If you can stand to sift through those posts, the real gems are there for there for the taking.
