motivation ideas anyone???
i was brainstorming on what motivates me...
i only like to flash clean the kitchen, 15 minutes at a time..
www.flylady.net
has helped with the organization stuff, and decluttering.....
i really am not fully alert until 2pm in the afternoon... i am awake and fully clothed at 9 am... you know what i mean??? i do my chores....but, it seems to me, like it is the robot part of me, doing the work... i do have fun and surely enjoy a clean house... but, motivation is different for me, everyday....

Re: motivation ideas anyone???
Yeah, motivation can be difficult for me to come up with on some days.
Luckily, I'm a natural anal-retentive neat freak. What? Hey, at least I'm honest.
So, it's not hard for me to clean things up, because clutter irks me.

Re: motivation ideas anyone???
Inviting someone over helps...and the longer the anticipated stay, the deeper the clean...
....or you can always start posting pics of your home on your blogs...no fair moving piles from one room to another to do so...lol
or you can pay yourself for each room you clean...either in money or in a treat...
Setting that 15 minute timer helps too.
good luck!

Re: motivation ideas anyone???
I am an obssessive list-maker, and i always get so much more done when i have added it to my list, cus then the plan is to cross out as many things as i can, as i complete them, and that's what makes me feel productive.

Re: motivation ideas anyone???
i'm with fern on this one... for some reason i'm way more productive when i have a list.... it doesn't have to be super detailed... it just gives me focus... i'll write stuff like clean fridge or put away laundry just because it's super satisfying to cross it off the list...
btw, i like flylady.net too.... it's a great site althougth i try not to be the clutterer...

Re: motivation ideas anyone???
I also like to have a list.
If the apartment starts to get too messy I make a list of everything that needs to get done, and then when I cross stuff off it makes me feel like I've actually accomplished something.
Guests is another good motivation to clean. We've done a great job cleaning when his parents or my parents have come to visit for the weekend.

I do this. I pay myself in money which I then use to spend on myself. Have only been doing it for about a month but my house is clean and I no longer feel guilty about meeting up with friends once a fortnight for coffee.

Re: motivation ideas anyone???
I have an 'open door' policy, which means people might be over anytime (well anytime after 9 or 10) so I have to be relativly clean...
When things get in the way of someone comming, I start to get lazy! So I invite someone!

I've enjoyed the TO DO feature on the google desktop sidebar. I can list a bunch of tasks, and I have it placed on the top of my bar.........always in view, keeps me focused, and I too, love marking things off when completed.

Re: motivation ideas anyone???
I am very motivated right now, my mother in law is coming over in 7 days! I too find that neat is normal here but major cleaning requires major motivation.

Re: motivation ideas anyone???
I hate to have a dirty house. It's to the point where it can be anal at times. I can't sit down and relax unless my house is clean. As far as the girl's rooms go I just shut their door. I don't know what happened this past week-end, but both of my girls cleaned their room and threw away ton's of junk. Thank goodness. Almost, passed out though. If I have some major cleaning to do I make a list and cross it off.

I like the idea of being paid to clean. or paying yourself to clean. Maybe I'd actually clean more!

Re: motivation ideas anyone???
Interesting concept, paying yourself. Perhaps a husband and wife could have a small base allowance that had 'incentives' for more. With a cap of course.
