I would ask...what frugal habit has been most successful for you???

and I would answer....
Cooking at home from scratch. When I worked outside the home, the days were so incredibly long that I would usually opt to drive-thru somewhere and arrive home with the meal all prepared. (We spent hundreds of dollars a month this way)....

One day, my daughter...then about 6 said "mommy, sometimes I like to eat with a fork"....lol oh words of wisdom in a childs eyes...

Now, I stay at home and I bake just about everything from scratch...and I am getting great reviews from the family so I must be doing something right.

So, what is your most successful frugal habit?

So have you learned something with that?? I hope so that you now have tighter communication with your daughter.

But if you'll ask me what is my frugal habit, I could say that I used to spend my money even though I don't need it I just enjoy spending my money.
That was when I was a student. Not unless I had a job. My first salary was qpied out buying here and there. But as time goes by, I realized and feel how hard to find money. That I should spend money wisely.
I never thought earning money is very hard. Now I have my own bank account and I am saving almost $100 a month. It's not that big but I'm proud to have a saving my on my own. Did I do the right thing or I'm just getting too hursh. hehe

When the gallon of milk gets empty, I don't throw it away. I save it for the next morning, and when I make my coffe, I pour about 2oz of coffe in there from my cup, close the lid, shake it and pour it back into my cup. That way i get milk into my coffe without actually spending any milk.
I also do similar thing with juice bottles. When the bottle gets empty, I add some water to it, shake it and pour it into my cup that already has some juice in it. I usually delute my juice with water anyways. My kids like juice too much, so they drink a lot of it. Deluting it with water helps not only to use less juice, but also that way we get less sugar(carbs) which is not that good for anybody, especcialy little kids. ( and me, so I wouldn't gain any extra weight)
