Default Is it worth buying the Sunday newspaper for the coupons?

I clipped out a few (worth well over the 1,50$ for the newspaper) but these are for things I wouldn't buy otherwise. Wondering if coupons are a way to save or to spend money. What is your experience with coupons? How do you keep track of what you have? How do you identify if you are really making a deal or not?

I think it's totally worth it. I use this site: http://www.couponmom.com every week. It is so awesome, because you only clip the coupons you need when you need them.

I used to cut out all the coupons every week and file them by aisle. Now, I just put the date on each coupon pack I receive. I got an accordion file to file the entire packs by month. Then, the website tells me when to use which coupons to get the best deal. I only shop at grocery stores that double each coupon's value.

It is so fun to get a cart full of groceries for next to nothing. I get to try many products for free that I would have never otherwise tried.

Our local paper carries no coupon. That Atlanta paper is at least $2, so i don't know if it is worth it or not!

I get the paper just on the weekends -- it was something like $27 for 28 weeks of weekend paper service. So even if I find just $1 of coupons for stuff I'd normally buy, it's a good deal. Wegmans doubles the discount for coupons valued under $1.

We don't have to get the paper as the coupons come with other flyers in some advertising package that is dumped on my driveway on a weekly basis. I don't know if I'd buy the paper. I'd look for a discarded copy.

Through my college, I get the newspaper 7 days a week for a whole semester (something like 18 weeks) for only $18. Plus, I like reading the paper. So, it is totally worth it. But, I wouldn't think so if you had to pay full price.

Also, here in metro-atlanta, the sales people stand on some of the curbs on Sundays and sell the paper for only $1. Also, the grocery stores bundle two papers together for only $2.50. We used to go in with another family and split the cost. I don't know where you are located, but maybe they do that near you.

I almost never use coupons, but I inevitably find one every week that justifies my paper...

Years ago when I was a young and struggling student I started clipping coupons. They used to be available on Wed. and Sunday. Magazines were full of them too. When I went shopping people would watch with astonishement as my bill went down. I'd leave the store with a smile. Now the pickings are so few and some stores refuse to accept those printed off the internet. I also receive weekly flyers which contain a few, but not very many I use. When you don't buy many processed foods, coupon pickings are few. But not a total waste so clip.

I have a good relationship with the grocery store owners in my area. If you go late in the evening they will give you the paper for free minus the first two pages of the news ( they receive credit for unsold papers). Last week I found one 30 cent coupon for a product I normally have to pay 3.49 for. In my humble opinion the answer to your question is no.

I wouldn't buy paper for the coupons. I used to get sunday paper every week for $1 each(they had special if you sign up for 20 weeks). I had lots of coupons. But if you get it every week you have more coupons than you can use, and its just going to be a waste of money on a paper. I still get it sometimes, maybe once in 2 months or something like that. When I go to the grossery store, sometimes I will loook inside the paper what coupons they have, if there is something that I would save at least $5 or so, I would deffinately buy it, otherwise, forget it.
I can't understand those people who get it every week and don't use coupons from it (they don't use coupons at all). They think it's too much hassle. Lazy people.

I don't eat out, because it costs me 3 or 4 times less to cook it at home. I only get a meal outside if its totally free with coupon. I get that like 2x month. Here we get pennysave catalog that has a coupon for a free item every week.

I was wondering, how much would you get in the free coupons for spending $10. For me to do that it has to be at least $20 in the coupons that I can actually use. So it has to be like $ 60 or so in coupons total in that morning journal.
