Who's late on Tax Returns?
April 15 every year seems to be a tough date for me. Always ALWAYS because I'm terrible about getting the taxes done, this year, I waited until last friday and am just going NOW to pick up my package from H&R Block, who else is as bad as I am??? and why...?

Re: Who's late on Tax Returns?
I did all my taxes back on Feb 6 -- I sent in my Federal return to get my refund right away, but I waited on my State Taxes because I owed some money. I didn't wait until April 15, but I did wait until April 3 or around there to actually copy the information over and mail them in.
We've had problems with my family receiving mail from me (in central NJ) slowly in Rochester & Buffalo NY -- however somehow mailing my NY return & payment in the late afternoon on Monday the 3rd... NY was able to receive and cash my check by Wednesday morning, April 5! I've never seen the government move so quickly. NJ took about a week and a half to cash my check to them.

Re: Who's late on Tax Returns?
I mailed ours in last Thursday, but we had them done back in February or March. We knew we'd owe, and we wanted to make sure the amount we owed was roughly what we were estimating. Don't like surprises when it comes to money.

We always do our taxes right after we get all the "pieces".

Re: Who's late on Tax Returns?
I am late! I have a tax preparer doing mine, and she just emailed me this week end, letting me know she had turned in an extension for me. I was hoping I had all the necessary figures & documents to her, but I'll bet I don't. I'm expecting to hear from her this week, with the missing pieces......... YUK. I hate numbers & will put this off forever!

Re: Who's late on Tax Returns?
I'm usually pretty good about doing them (so I think) but this year was just WAY different. I did a married filing jointly one (my first since I only got married this last year) and then I switched jobs to where I was my "own boss" and had to do a schedule C and that was NO fun. Receipt counting is NO fun whatsoever. and I always lose all my receipts, so I know that my refund could have been better, but oh well, live and learn..

I always try to do them in February. I have had our return back now for over 6 weeks.

I know I will owe, so I put mine off. Took them to h and r block a few weeks ago and got them back last week. I wish we had a flat sales tax on everything and could elimnate the IRS.

Re: Who's late on Tax Returns?
I did my taxes and got my state refund back, still waiting for my federal I checked the status online and they said that it was delayed and gave me a number to call, After waiting on hold forever I finally got to speak to someone and they asked me if I had filed a Spousal injury claim, (With me being single and not married, I told her no) She told me that they would realize the mistake later on and that this would delay my refund.

Re: Who's late on Tax Returns?
I filled on time (back in February for myself and March for my boyfriend)
But, I found it really funny when people walked into my work on Saturday asking if we had tax forms. Seriously . . .
First, no we don't, try the library or the post office down the street . . .
Second, it's the 15th and you don't even have the forms yet! I mean, I understand if you're having problems getting documentation together, but not even having a 1040 yet is just taking procrastination to a new level . . .

Re: Who's late on Tax Returns?
Hey,
Gotta love the automatic extension. I know I should do it on some miserable weather Saturday in February, but I just don't.
Now that April's here, it's just too beautiful to give up a weekend.
I'll do 'em on some hot miserable weekend in July or August.

Re: Who's late on Tax Returns?
I did my taxes back in the beginning of March to get an idea of how much I owed. Sadly, it was more than I hoped. I had paid a good amount in estimated taxes throughout the year, but still owed about half the amount I already paid. So, I spent March and April getting together the money to pay for them. I filed them April 10th or so and charged them to my credit card. I pay my card off in full each month, but I did this so I wouldn't actually have to pay them for another month or so. This gave me a little more time to get the rest of the money.
