I hate the free things to do!
What do you do when you really don't like the free things to do? For example,
I don't like to garden, only do that as a necessity. *I do it but don't like it.
I can't draw to save my life nor do I want to.
cleaning is NOT my friend. again do it but hate it.
We don't have the option of a museum or a Y, or free concerts here (I might do that if we did)
The library sucks. Very small and there is only one near me.
I don't like to do any kind of sewing
I don't like to bake
Don't own a bike so that wouldn't be free.
I will be posting a few free things that we do. But you can only do them so many times!

...board games??
...going for a walk and really trying to see somehting AMAZING? (I saw one of those huge blue butterflies near work the other day...I never imagined I'd see anything so beautiful in this part of the city)
...playing frisbee?? (I am terrible at it!)

Re: I hate the free things to do!
cicy, I agree, I don't like cleaning, sewing, drawing, making things etc. I am in a small town and there is not much to do. I use to like to walk when I lived out on a gravel road, but here there is too much traffic. No one to play board games with and I am too old for frisbee.

Re: I hate the free things to do!
I know I sound like such a baby but here goes. I don't go for walks because I have an irrational fear of large dogs, caused by being bit by a saint bernard when younger. I won't even go into my own backyard alone. I take my dog. (and she better protect me!) We do play some games, I listed them in the free stuff to do list. but how many games can you play???? I wish I had more interest in those things. I have a friend that loves to crossstitch. yechhh.

Aerobic dancing and other exercises can be done at home. Meditation can be done at home.
Listening to music. Doing home improvements. Think Positive!

I agree cicy. I have friends that are really into crafts and making things and to me, it is just a waste of money. I have no talent, I can't make anything and I don't like to cook or bake.

Re: I hate the free things to do!
What about reading or puzzle books. Surfing the net is fun! LOL I suppose that wouldn't be free for those of you who pay for the amount of time that you're online. I know it's not really free but it is something to do that you don't have to put out extra money for.
There are lots of online games that you can play without paying for a membership. Um..can you tell I like being online? LOL

Re: I hate the free things to do!
I never wanted a computer because I don't know how to use it. But I love it now and spend lots of time on here. I am sure there are lots of fun things to do on here that I don't know about.

Re: I hate the free things to do!
I'm not really the baking/gardening/cleaning etc. type either. I did surprisingly develop 2 hobbies over the last couple of years that might surprise you: 1) Selling stuff on eBay. (Actually makes money, but the money is just a way to keep score.) 2) Blogging.

Re: I hate the free things to do!
I was obsessed with selling things on Ebay for a while too-- then I ran out of things to sell that I didn't want anymore. Kind of free, except you lose some of the money from the sale to cover Listing fees and possible Paypal fees.
I was big into Crossword puzzles for a while. I couldn't just sit and watch TV, I'd have to be doing something. So I did crossword puzzles.
Then I learned how to knit, which was really just a distraction from studying while in college. Then that became my new obsession, which I've been doing for the last 2 years or so. I started with scarves, did a blanket, found some bag patterns, got into that. Definitely not free, but I've easily sold over $1000 of bags that I've made, since the summer. Working on making more bags now to update the website and for a little "Spring" party that my mom plans on hosting back in Rochester. All bags I've sold have completely covered materials and on top of that have paid about $7-12/hour that it took me to make the items (depending on what it is).
I kill time on the internet. I recently found that I like those "Sudoku" puzzles, they are kind of logic type things. But you can't do too many of those in one sitting without getting bored.
I like to walk up to the villagey area of Princeton, and I might spend a buck or two on some coffee or hot chocolate up that way, but I like walking around, through the university, and past all the shops, and the old pretty houses.
My other hobbies are by no means cheap: skiing (I at least have my own equipment now, but that was pricey) and biking (I can do that Spring-->Fall anyway), but the bike cost me $450 when I bought it last summer.

Re: I hate the free things to do!
I have a few penpals that I correspond with. Envelopes can be expensive and they're so drab looking. I went to the wallpaper stores and asked for there discontinued wallpaper books. They will give them to you free. I made a whole bunch of real cute envelopes from the wallpaper. I also went to yard sales and bought the half or part rolls of wallpaper that people were selling. I have so much wallpaper right now that the hubby made me quit buying it.
I enjoy crosswords and word finds. I'm not much for the TV either. I also enjoy a lot of online games. Usually hubby is watching TV and I'm playing games on the net. We're in the same room but just doing our own thing.
I enjoy selling on ebay too but I don't have a lot of things to sell right now.

Re: I hate the free things to do!
I don't have enough time to find free things I don't like! I mean yeah I hate cleaning but I hate dirty house more, I hate gardening but I love the happiness on my kids faces when they get the veggies.
I kill an hour here in the AM (and other places) but other than that any time to do something fun is stolen!

Re: I hate the free things to do!
Have you tried Bored.com?
Maybe you could use your time to send a few online pranks? -- they're fairly harmless and always worth a good laugh.
Or perhaps: this?
When I'm really bored, even with the internet... I try learning a new language. There's tons of sites devoted to it online, assuming your library is a loss in this department. In the past few years, I've learned the basics to Vietnamese, (various forms of) Chinese, Japanese, and Italian (btw, I'm fluent in both English and Spanish). Now, if I could just find the money to travel...

Re: I hate the free things to do!
I'm finding myself a little bored *only* working 40 hours a week. I'm used to being an undergrad fulltime + working 30 hours, or working 35 hours + babysitting 20+ hours....so this 40 hours thing leaves me with a lot of freetime.
In addition to knitting, I've decided to try to learn Spanish, with the help of a CD set from the library (free). I know a lot of German from 5 years of it in High School, but I'm not going to Germany any time soon, and there aren't any Germans to interact with.

LOL, you can come help me for free, shoveling manure, feeding, busting ice out of buckets 2x a day, checking the herd, throwing hay, trimming hooves, just bring your carharts and I'll keep you from being bored!

Re: I hate the free things to do!
Well figure out what it is you like to do & maybe try to find a way to do it free. Thier are lots of ways to do different things for free or close to it for ex going out to eat you can get a job as a mystery shopper, or if you like to go to movies thier are lots of free movie ticket rebate offers out. If you like to shop make a game of it by being a bargin hunter & using coupons & rebates with your bargins. I dont these are just things I have learned to do that has saved me alot of money Once in awhile I will say forget I am paying to go bowling or something but certainly not often I would say once a year!!!

Re: I hate the free things to do!
I don't like to spend money on movies cause most of them are not good, and I don't like bad language either. I live on a creek and i could fish, but I don't eat fish. I will be glad when it warms up and I can sit on the deck over the creek.
