Interesting! My friends and I rarely talk about money and when we do it's pretty vague. They certainly have no idea what our income is, or how much we have in the bank...I think the most they would know is a ballpark figure of what we owe on our mortgage.

Facinating clip. I agree, most women haven't been trained to be comfortable with money. I'm fortunate my parents were both equally involved in the finances of our family/household, so it seemed normal to me.
I worked in a nursing home for years as an activity director & was so amazed to see the difference in money skills for the generations of women I was working with. Many of them had never even handled money. Then, there was the odd one, that had even had a career. So many women, even these days.............find out how much they don't know about money & their finances when their spouse becomes ill, or worse......dies. That is just pathetic to watch.
I just can't imagine not wanting to have control over that part of my life. The state of ones finances virtually controls all the other aspects of our life!!!

I am very comfortable talking about my money with other people, but I find very few people I know will talk about it. I have one close friend who will and one who will not. I talk on another forum and when I mentioned that a local bank was paying 4.14% interest some one jumped on me and said, that is only for deposits of $50,000 up, like I was crazy. Shouldn't a person my age have at least $50,000?? I am going to be in big trouble in a few years if I don't have some money saved up. We will have to live on social security and that is less than $1000 a year.
