Default buying books/movies/music at a discount?

Anyone have favorite websites for purchasing books, movies, or music?

I remember someone mentioning that they had a good site for buying cheap DVDs...I can't find the post now, though, and I don't remember who said it!

I normally price check at overstock.com, amazon.com, and half.com.

I rarely buy movies, but I was looking at getting some for gifts this Christmas. I checked out deepdiscountdvd.com and the prices were pretty good (it was suggested by someone on this site).

One of my worst spending issues is buying DVDs and books. I always try to buy DVD's at video stores after they've been out for a while - usually pick them up for under $10. You can sometimes get good deals on e-bay and dvd empire as well.

Netflix is selling used DVDs for $5.99 and free shipping. I don't know if you have to be a subscriber, or if anyone can buy from them.

Paperbackswap.com is great, as other people have mentioned.

Some book price comparison websites are:

A great place to buy books inexpensively is bookcloseouts.com . They have a wide variety of books, and shipping isn't very much. You can also sometimes find discount codes for shipping, which makes it even cheaper.

Another place to check out for dvds is peerflix which is a dvd trading service. I haven't tried it out personally yet but will be soon.

The best consistent deals I've found have been at deepdiscountDVD.com and deepdiscountCD.com.

I first ordered as a "reward" from something, they had buy 1 get 2 free, and the selection for the deal was good. I also purchased Hidalgo, two collection sets of Harold Lloyd, and a few other Christmas presents, and got much better deals. Also got several BOGOs. They have free shipping.

The freebies took maybe 10-14 days to arrive. The purchases, still free shipping, were 50% less than amazon.com, and arrived within three days.

I buy my books through Alibris.com and Amazon.com. Alibris has many books, dvds and cds that are hard to find. I usually pay $2.95 for my books there. I recently bought the dvd "Catch Me if You Can" for $2.95 also. It was a used copy but in excellent condition!

BooksAMillion.com is another site that was recommended to me but I have not purchased anything from them yet.
