POLL: how much do spend on groceries

Second part of "how much do you spend on food" question. Please specify how many people and ages of kids in your reply, and if possible maybe where you live. I'm in NC, family of 4, kids age 3 and 8.

This is where I make up for not eating out. The amount I spend for CJ and I to eat at home and also to feed two (2) elderly parents, is close to $400 per month.

I put $100-$200 a month; I usually spend about $40 a week ($160/month). That's for just myself, and I live in New York City.

NC, USA
2 kids (3.5 and 2)
1 infant (breastfeeding)
2 adults

is actually usually only 500 (sometimes less) and that covers all food/diapers/medicine

I voted in the $800-$1600 category. We have 10 kids, from age 4-22, all living at home, for a total of 12 people. We've been spending closer to $1600 for groceries, including nonfood items. Our goal for this year is to pare it down to $1000 per month or less. We have done it before, even with a child or two in diapers. I know there's been lots of waste in our spending, and that we can do a lot better.

I have only been tracking for two months...In November, it was somewhere in the $300s...last month it was $480. Ouch. This includes diapers (for two kids) and toiletries as well as food. There are four adults and two children (ages 1 and 2) in the household, but my mother also spends several hundred per month on groceries. This is an area we need to do a little better on.
