I keep a spreadsheet of all my monthly bills, so I can tell you to the penny -
I spent $27,534.48 this year. (This includes Dec. bills) This is made up of mortgage, insurance, and utilities. This does not include any credit card or cash spending. My car is paid off, so the only car expense included in this number is insurance. I definitely wish it were lower!!! This is the first year I kept track like this. I easily would have underestimated... ![]() |

No spreadsheet here but according to my totals:
$15,000/yr. Home (4 flat) and (1) car are paid off. For the home we pay the entire gas utility for all units as well as garbage pickup, water, lawn maintenance, and common area electric. Add in property taxes, homeowners insurance, flood insurance, umbrella policy, etc. The rest is car insurance, medical insurance(s), long term care insurance, medical deductibles and co-pays and drugs. Oh yeah, phone and satelite(sp). In retrospect, not bad, but it can always be better. |

We rent our apartment in Princeton NJ (Sig. other is a grad stduent there). Monthly expenses--
Rent: $830/month for a 1 br apt (this area is more expensive than where we moved from). Cell: $70/month for 2 cell phones (only phone) Electric: $50-80/month My Undergrad student Loans: $123/month Car Payment: $262/month Cable: $50/month Car Insurance: Averages out to ~$175/month for 2 drivers + a 1998 car and a 2006 car (a little more than twice what it would have been in rochester...) Groceries: $180/month Luckily our Internet and Gas (our heat) and water are included in the rent. I think that's everything. That ends up to be: $1750/month, or $21,000 per year. This is not including probably $75 of gas per month between our two cars, my medical insurance through work is $90/month, and I probably have about $75/month (that's the minimums... but i've been paying more) in paying down credit card bills. |
