Default Everyone Please Vote For September Charity

Everyone please take a few seconds to vote for the charity you feel we should give the money raised in September. We received 4 submissions from forum members on charities that they asked us to consider for the new SavingAdvice.com Discussion Board Donation Drive. We feel it is best for the members who come here to choose which charity we will donate the month of September earnings to. SavingAdvice.com Discussion Board Charity Drive will donate $0.05 (up to $1000.00) for every legitimate post made in the forums from September 1, 2004 through September 30, 2004.

This voting for which charity we will sponsor will run through August 28 at which point I will close the voting. The charity that has the most votes when the poll closes will receive the funds generated by all of you during September (ModestNeeds.org was voted to receive the money generated in August). If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email Nate and I at info@savingadvice.com or leave your question in this thread and we will answer it as quickly as possible. Here are the 4 nominations:

1) The Money Camp

The Money Camp is an organization that offers financial literacy camps for children and adults. They supply kids and adults with information that leads to the ability to be financially independent. They also provide
teacher trainings to allow others to conduct money camps for children and adults.

2) Breast Cancer Foundation

For more than 20 years, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has been a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative research and community-based outreach programs. Working through a network of U.S. and international Affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure®, the Komen Foundation is fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by funding research grants and supporting education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world.

3) ForHaitiWithLove.org

Picture your house, mentally remove EVERYTHING that uses either electricity or running water. Now, remove all carpeting and stuffed furniture, including the bed. Replace this with straw mat. No floors, no slab, just bare earth and a thatched roof. Take out all the screens in your house. While your at it remove the windows and the doors. No grass around the house. Got a good picture? Good. Now picture yourself with no car, or bike, or shoes for that matter. No job, no unemployment or welfare checks. You have no money, no bank accounts, no credit cards, no refrigerator, no ice and no food. You are hungry, and to make matters worse, your children are hungry. On top of that they are sick, full of worms and usually naked. This is the AVERAGE Haitian!

4) Habitat For Humanity

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization. We welcome all people to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with those who lack adequate shelter. Since 1976, Habitat has built more than 175, 000 houses, providing shelter for nearly 900,000 people worldwide. Now at work in 100 countries, we are building a house every 26 minutes. By 2005, Habitat houses will be sheltering 1 million people.
