Nope, no will. I figure everything thing will go to my parents. When I am married, I probably will. No dependants

This is embarrassing.

My job is writing wills (or part of my job). I write easy wills, complicated wills and everything in between.

I have no will. I have dependents. I only have a few assets.

Sigh. I've got to write my will, it wouldn't take much and I have a law firm of witnesses and notaries.

Yes, we have a will, but it's not notarized yet (which we have NO excuse for, as our neighbor is a notary).
DH and I are both 28...made it when we were 27. We have two dependents and made it primarily to determine who they would live with more than to distribute our assests.

Exclamation Re: Poll: Do you have, or not have, a will?

Do you have a will? YES. One of my coworkers, with whom I was very close with, died of heart attack four years ago. He was in his early 50s and he seemed in perfect health when he waived good bye at the end of previous day. Then two weeks later, my wife's cousin died while watching a sports event of heart attack. He was only 36 at the time. That is when we decided it was time for us to get it done.

If so, how old were you when you made it - 33

Do you have dependents? Yes, two children. Otherwise, we would not have thought of importance of having a will. Will also allowed us to designate guardian in case both of us are not around. Last thing we want is to have our kids go through the foster care while court decides what happens to them.

If you don't have one made, GET IT DONE NOW! I have a friend who is an attorney and she did it at no charge but you can also buy will kits at very low cost, or get attorney involved for couple of hundred dollars.

I am 29, single, and no dependants (unless you count my cat.) All of my assets (retirement accounts, IRA's etc) have beneficiaries listed. I don't have a will, but if I were married or had any kids I would most definitely have one -- or if I had any worthwhile assets to leave anyone.

Keeping It Frugal in Texas,
Laura

No, not yet. But we are going to get it done. We have a 15-month girl and another on the way. My dad recently died and it kind of brought up the discussion that we should have a will drawn up for ourselves just in case.

Yes, I have a will, and power of attorney for my spouse, and an living will. (we are unmarried and so needed to sew things up legally as best we could)

Made it last summer, at age 28.

One dependent.

Like other parents who responded, we made wills primarily to designate alternate guardians for our son. We had a situation in the family two years ago where one parent died without a will and the other parent became too ill to care for their 7-yr-old. The extended family had to step in and find a place for him to go, and he was bounced between friends, family, etc, until he finally landed with his aunt, uncle and cousins. But it was HEARTBREAKING for everybody and I do not want my family to all look at each other and shrug, or worse, start fighting, if something happens to me and my little son needs a home.

We have wills
I was 47 for this one (had a previous one)
No dependents-two grown sons, one of whom is autistic and although has made great strides wasn't at that point capable of handling an inheritance. We have property and a business (that would need closed down) that had to be distributed.

My husband refinishes pianos as our main income, which means at any given moment we might have 5-10 pianos in various bits and pieces, that would all need returned to owners, etc. Partial payments refunded. Needless to say I make sure that hubbies life insurance is always paid. Our will is part of the necessary thing that needed to be done so I wouldn't get left holding a huge bag if something should happen to him.

Gail

Yes we have a will, had it made about 10 years ago, but thinking about redoing it and leaving more to charity.
