Default My pet dog has heartworm

I know this really doesn't fit in here, but I'm going to ask anyway in case someone has had a similar experience. I just found out that my pet dog has heartworm. He is a stray I found on the side of the road about a month ago. It appears that the heartworm is rather advanced. I was wondering if anyone had treated heartworm without the medicines the doctors give. Are there any natural remedies out there that work? I'm just so sad to get this news and I'm not sure exactly what I should do.

Sad news. I know how you feel. I love animals and do anything it takes to take care of them. I was a volunteer at an animal shelter for 10 years and I know heart worm is a very serious problem. And it takes serious care by a vet. I doubt if there are any home remedies. If you found him as a stray, his owner probably abandoned him, maybe because he knew the dog had heart worm. I would go to the SPCA, Humane Society, or your town animal shelter (i.e.dog pound) and see if you can get any help. Someone may be able to help you, especially if it's a young dog. And please let me know how you make out. We have 4 dogs and 3 cats and do anything it takes to keep them healthy even though we are on limited income.

You may want to check out this website The Herb Place that has a natural program for eliminating heartworm. We have a dog that has just been diagnosed with heartworm and since the Vets in Japan won't do treatment (they say he is too old and the risk is too high), we see this as our only alternative at the moment (if we don't, he will die of the heartworm anyway).

The first response came back very quickly and we are still in the process of working out a treatment. I will let you know how it goes as the steps continue.
