Yeah, they put lots of things in the foods that they don't tell us about in the US. I have a child who can't have the dyes and it is really hard to watch his diet.

I too hate that wax that they put on apples and cucumbers, ugh....

Back to the ground beef, my grocery store (Food Lion) usually has it on a clearance sale on Monday mornings. What they didn't sell for the weekend. I buy a big package of it only if I am going to go straight home and fry it up. Then, I too put it in pint-sized zipper bags, date and label the bags, and freeze it.

I can't imagine keeping these packages in the freezer even a month 'cause I fix spaghetti, tacos, creamed beef, chili, and sloppy joe's for suppers with it.

Three months sounds like a good rule of thumb for the freezer, If you have a package that's older than that and it doesn't smell or taste freezer burnt it will be fine to use. Just taste the meat before you pour sauce over it!

OMG I know what you mean. I am lucky I can keep what I buy for the week in the fridge long enough to make it for a meal.
