Default How much for ground beef?

How much do you pay for ground beef - at any fat percentage?

I rarely have this go on sale in my area, so I'd like to know what a good price is for stocking up/freezing.

Thanks!

I am thinking mine that I pick up is 90% fat free and I pay an average of 99¢(markdown from meat dept after hrs) to $1.99 per pound. I have seen it flux around $2.50 and $2.99 I try to stay away from those prices and make something different for that week if I choose a meal with ground beef. You do know you can freeze it up to 3 months after sell by date? My meats never last that long but I freeze everything I can and ony thaw what I need for the next couple days.

We buy it in bulk the day they mark it down (thursdays at our BJs) I stretch it to make 6lbs last for 8-10 meals.

Price is usually around 150, but in the summer we can get it for a buck sometimes.

Not on sale it is usually 2 or 3 $s a lb (here in charlote NC)

I usually try to stick to the lower % of fat so I usually pay about $1.89 maybe $2.39 depends on where I sop!

Once in a blue moon I'll see 1.49lb for 80% ground beef as a door buster. I'll buy it and serve it in a dish for a social function where I don't like most of the people.

In our area of PA ground beef is usually $1.99 or more, rarely on sale for less than that. The lean ground beef I think runs about $2.49. Any other beef we have gotten in the past year or so has been tough and tasteless, so we just got a side of beef and crossed our fingers. It came to $1.67 a pound for everything including the steaks and prime rib (Chirstmas treat). The meat that we have had so far has been very lean and very tasty and we are very happy with our decision to cancel cable TV and get the beef with the money. Between the beef and the chicken/ham I had already gotten on sale, except for a turkey (if the price is right) we are set for meat for the year.

I pay around 1.80/lb for ground sirloin...93% lean and makes a mean chili/taco meat....However, you do have to add some steak sauce to it to make burgers....
