I just found an old old empty juice can. (kind with frozen juice concentrate) I was reading the can, and found it odd that it is the same size can as today. But, the directions on it read, add 3 and 1/2 to 3 and 1/2 cans cold water. Todays cans just say add 3 cans. Its like they want us to drink sweater juice, not make as much at a time so we will have to buy and make more?????

Yes, I've noticed that myself -- that frozen juice concentrate often seems to call for less water now than it once did. Heh, I don't know if it's a conspiracy or not...! We've ALWAYS added more water than called for anyway, regardless of what the cans say -- usually just filling our juice pitcher up to an even 2 quarts. Tastes fine to us.....

They are trying to have buy more. I always water down the juice. One glass of juice a day is enough. The rest is water and I do give 2 cups of milk a day to the kids.
Look at cereal boxes. Same price and maybe even the same size but the ounces are different. Sometimes they will add new and improved to make it look like a good bargain. |

What I dont like is a bag of chips (which is not frugal, and not healthy). The bag is 3/4 full of air. The last time I got a small bag from the vending machine at work-It had 7 chips in it-only 7. Cost me $1. That was the last time I used the vending machine.

I hear you, Mom. Chips are truly a bum deal when it comes to 1) economy, 2) bang for the buck, and 3) good artery health. When I was working, I was a craven vending-machine addict, and that was 23 years ago. Vending machine snacks tend to be tiny, unsatisfying, and about as good for us as doing deep-breathing exercises in the heart of Los Angeles on the smoggiest day of the year. Seven chips for a buck...grrrrrr! Been there and done 'n' eaten that...

I mix it with extra water, and then I water it down for every one but DH. And I can't drink tap water, but a britta filter fixes that esily.
Course I also feel guilty about the lack of 'pulp' in the juice . |

Not about juice, but about downsizing...I usually make things from scratch, but I have a weakness for muffin mixes (my homemade muffins are awful). Well, when making some yesterday, the same size package only makes 5 muffins now instead of 6! How completely cheap!
