I gave that habit up in the 90's when I finally realized what I was spending. I now mostly eat leftovers( I hate throwing food away). If I'm in a hurry I usually will make a sandwich or grab something that doesn't need to be heated. I'm on call so this is important.
I know I have saved a bundle of money over time by being a lot more frugal about what I do for lunch. I still eat out for lunch occasionally but it's usually work related when I do and I get some of that reimbursed.
What do you do for lunch and has it saved you money?

Food is one of the biggest sources of Budget squander, that most people do not realize. Here's a great way to save a couple of Hundred Dollars a month (which translates to a couple of thousand dollars per year):
- Eat Breakfast at home;
- Make your lunch at home, and bring it to work;
- Avoid purchasing breakfast or lunch while at work;
- Reduce the # of times you eat out for dinner by half, each month;
- Avoid that $4 Cafe Latte in the morning. Make coffee at home, or take advantage of
your companies' free coffee policy;
Stick to this, and the average Joe will save a couple of grand per year!
