Default Throwing out food

This is another delema I have had recently. Please let me know your opinions on it and how you make it work. When you have extra food, do you throw it out or eat it?

I'm in the process of a diet. When I see food that needs to be eaten or it will soon go bad, I always eat it because I don't want it to go to waste. But this often means going against my diet and eating when I really shouldn't. So in this situation, what is the best thing to do?

Should I throw out the food for my health and waste it or not waste it and make it harder to improve my health?

if you can freeze it for later try that, if not throw it out, your health is an investment, worth more than a couple bucks of food in the trash.

Also better planning and all that will help keep down the amount of stuff that will go bad, I promise I will learn that before I die .

We use most left overs. Just plan it as your meal instead of in addition to your meal.

agree. Most left overs can be "recycled" into other foods...or, if the amount is not enough, they can be used as "single servings" for work...on Sundays, we generally see what's in the fridge...sometimes we end up having enough "singles" that each of us eats something different for dinner! LOL!

We do sometimes throw out food. I hate that. Such a waste.

Try freezing it to your own homemade dinenrs.

We also have Clean out the fridge night which is really leftovers or soup/sandwichs if there is not enough for everyone.

We use leftovers for our lunches the next day. We also freeze single portions if we're sick of eating it. Those turn into emergency dinners or lunches.

Freeze what you can, plan to use the rest in other meals. If you have so many leftovers that are going uneaten that it is sabotaging your weight and health goals, you need to figure out a way to cut down on the number of them or use them as meals in stead of in addition to meals.

I get sick of leftovers, but freezing them means I can have them much later instead of right after I had the original meal. I don't always freeze leftovers, but I am working on rememebring to do this. I'm also working on cooking just what we'll eat for one meal, sometimes, so that we don't have to deal with leftovers at all. I find that things get "lost" in the frig and end up being tossed. DH is much better about finding and eating leftovers.
