Default 50 lbs of oat meal

I just bought 50 lbs of oat meal for $17.98, or something like that. Any suggestions on what to do with it besides granola & oat meal cookies?

You can add a little to meatloaf to help it stretch.

Just make sure you store it properly so you get your moneys worth! When I get it in bulk, I put it in ziplock freezer bags (which I wash and reuse, of course) and then in a rubbermade type container and freeze. It keeps bugs out, and by using the ziplocks, it doesnt taste like the freezer.

after freezing the oatmeal for about a week, I stored it in a 5 gal. food bucket that has a gamma seal. The gamma seals are nice because they are air tight & the screw on & off. For bulk food buying, I highly recommend it. The only thing that doesn't work well with it is sugar because if the container is not totally full, there is air in it. And that air hardens sugar. I suppose you could put in some soda crackers to absorb the moisture. I use these containers for flour, oatmeal, rice and such.

I don't know how old your kids are, mom of 4, but if you have an infant or toddler you could grind it up and use it as baby cereal. (1 pound of that = $2.50 where I live and I go through a lot of it!) If you don't have an infant you could mail it to me . . . where was that post on discount stamps . . . (J/K)
