Question Opinons on Grocery Game

Hi! I would like your opinons about the Grocery Game. I first found it a year or so ago, and used it faithfully for about six months. I did end up with a large stockpile, but I also found that I was spending money on things that I normally would never have spent money on. I canceled my account after awhile because for nearly two months there was very few things on it that I used. I am thinking of trying it again, but am not sure if it is really worth the money.

Thanks for your opinons.

Keeping It Frugal in Texas,
Laura

I have an aversion to paying for information that I can get FREE. So I would never use them. I can look at my sale flyers and figure my own deals in about an hour or so a week and I have 5 store flyers a week to look at.

Default I Love The Grocery Game!!

I LOVE THE GAME.!!

It has transformed the way my husband and I not only shop for food, but shop for everything!!

I too noticed awhile back that there were few good deals... and I too was feeling a little disapointed.. but oh well. that's not Terri's fault..

WE LOVE IT!

I disagree with MOMTWO.. I think the service is very valuable.. especially for the price that they charge.. I would NEVER be able to go to the store and look through all the isles for the sales...
I have compaired the weekly ad with the list.. and indeed their are many many things listed on the list that is CHEAP that isn't listed in the weekly flyer.

I agree.. you buy things that you normally would not.. for instance.. I have never bought WINDEX.. I have always just bought the store brand, same with laundry soap.. always used to buy purex or clout.. now.. It's GAIN all the way!!

I guess it just all depends.. WE LOVE IT.. like I said.. it has changed the way we spend.
We have not shopped in weeks.. the holidays and what not.. (you know how it is) but we havn't been hurting at all... still eating great.. going out to the shed to stock up on more supplies in the house..

I think it's a good life with the game.. but that's my opinion

It's not necessary 4 me. There are only 4 stores & walmart's everyday prices are usually less than their sale prices. If it's a loss leader item, walmart matches it.

Thanks everyone for your opinons. I think I am going to go for the $1 trial period again and see if I can do any better with it than I've been doing on my own.

Kashi - the Grocery Game is essentially a list which is compiled by many people in various places around the US and then the information is put into a database. Terri (the person who "owns" the list and started it) then uses the information in the database, along with all the Sunday newspaper coupons to figure out what the best deals are for that particular sale period. She's got some kind of connections that help her find out about unadvertised sales and her database also tells her when a "sale" isn't really a sale - but a "phantom sale." The address for it is just like the name.
