Hehe... NDArmyGrrl - we always go to red lobster for birthdays too! its so expensive so about 5 years ago my parents and i agreed that only for each of our birthdays would be when we would go. My husband is now part of the tradition too so thats 4 birthdays we get to go.

....Today im cooking homemade mashed red garlic & bacon potatoes, grilled cheese sandwhiches, steamed broccoli and crock pot chocolate pudding cake.

I made a pot of beans two days ago, so there will not be much cooking until that is finished.

However, last night I had stir fried garlic broccoli cauliflower with a light sauce of vinegar + soy sauce + ginger. I had some of that sauce left over, so for lunch today I tried some of it in the beans! It made the beans taste less heavy, a completely different taste. Not something I'd serve to company, but I don't regret the experiment. Is this how great cooking discoveries are made?

I tried out pork again today. It turned out fine (in the crockpot), and I even learned not to over-season it. Yes, I learned the hard way that it's better to under-season than it is to over-season because it's easy to fix the former but not the latter.

Despite that... my pork still seems too dry for some reason. Otherwise, chops are cheap enough I think, but... no point if I can't get it to be tender enough.

BA, here's a crockpot pork chop recipe that says the meat "falls off the bone". Crock Pot Chili Pork Chops.....a Must Try! Recipe | Recipezaar
Here's an oven pork chop recipe that I can personally vouch for (if you are ready to attempt something other than the crockpot soon! But I won't push...). You can still prepare it the night before and pop it in the oven when you get home, if it's convenience you're looking for.

We've been using our crock pot a LOT this winter - chili, soup, etc. We also just broke out the dehydrator we got for our wedding. Really easy to use and will make some great, healthy snacks!

Italian vegetable soup (that means leftover spaghetti sauce went into the pot)
Maybe garlic bread with it?

fried chicken (don't tell my gals in the coop), mashed potatoes, orange jello salad with mandrian oranges, rolls (if I have enough yeast after making bread) and either fried okra or corn (basically which ever is easier to find in the veggie deepfreeze)

Pepsi chicken - the easiest "bbq" type sauce you can make. 16 oz. Pepsi, 1/2 c. margarine, 1 c. ketchup. Not the best for you, but pretty tasty and super-easy when you don't feel like cooking. I made peas and a fruit salad to go with it, along with leftover biscuits.

We are having lasagna roll-ups and home-made meatballs. We will probably have meatball subs tomorrow night for dinner and then freeze the rest.

Adding smoked turkey sausage, gumbo veggies, celery, peppers and onions and some brown rice.
