Rock cornish hens, cornbread stuffing, butterflied leg of lamb, REAL macaroni and cheese, (in my family you must use extra sharp CRACKER BARREL cheese, and canned evaporated milk and it had better be cheesy.) baby greens and grape tomato salad, dinner rolls. Cake, pecan pie and ice cream.

Years ago, DD's elementary class had a Thanksgiving lunch with only items that could have been served at the first Thanksgiving. That was fun. Since then, I've sorta gone that direction, except for the venison. I'd have to raid someone else's freezer for that one.

Wouldn't have a clue how to cook venison. Funny, we lived on the edge of a national preserve growing up with deer in our fields. But dad didn't hunt as an adult. So I never had it until here. I also have eaten some critters that I wouldn't have before since I have Cajun neighbors.

My Cajun neighbors deep fry the turkeys. They are yummy. Sometimes, they will do the neighborhoods if asked. I'd have to get mine less spicey.

the sausuge browns up just like lean ground beef b/c FIL adds fat to it (otherwise venison is so lean it sticks & burns!). he has access to a deep freeze, so the mandatory sub-zero 'kill the microscopic whatsits' gets taken care off long before i get it.

Going to the In Law's for Thanksgiving dinner and they take care of everything.
DH and I joked that we might contribute a 2 lb. bag of carrots this year...They are everybody's favorite and always almost gone by the time the last person gets them. The in-laws think they made just enough but the reality is that everyone takes less than they want because there isn't enough to go around!!!!
