Default Cooperative price book

Here's an idea I have been toying with, but I'm not sure how it would work out on the forums. It is so time consuming to create a price book on your own. Wouldn't it be easier if everyone contributed their prices and make one big cooperative book that we can all refer to? For example, we can have posts for flour, eggs, sugar, beans, meat, etc - commonly bought items - and anyone can post their current best deals.
However, I'm not really sure how to do this. A few problems:
1. How to organize. It would be time-consuming to have to skim through multiple posts to find the item you are looking for.
2. Price variation in different parts of the country. Even locally, there is some price variation between rural/urban areas in NY, so organizing by region probably would not work either.

Is this impossible? I see so many posts about starting pice books, it would be great to have a "base list" of prices for everyday items. Looking for ideas and thoughts...

Default Re: Cooperative price book

i think it's a good idea, jodi, but i don't think it would work for 'real' stores b/c of the point about regional price differences. now for internet/catalog retailers, i think this would definitely be doable and useful.
