Default Please Post a Weekly Sample Dinner Menu of Yours

I am interested in planning some weekly menus to become more organized and eat better. Seems like I get into a rut and make the same things over and over. Our weekly menu usually consists of 1-2 chicken dishes, a beef dish, pasta dish, and then leftovers or takeout. I really don't know how to cook fish and nobody here is too crazy about it. Do you make a weekly menu? I would be interested to see what everyone else is eating for supper.

I have a system I like for meal planning and it's quite easy.

I have a recipe box full of index cards. I have organized my recipes by categories such as:
Chicken
soup/salad
beef
breakfast
pork
fish
Italian
New recipe

I start with Sunday and start pulling recipes from each category in that order. I come up with a month's worth of menus quite easily.

Now, here is my current menu, though I admittedly did NOT use the above method.

Tuesday: Meatloaf, rice, corn casserole, broccoli
Wednesday: Stromboli
Thursday: Chicken Wreath
Friday: Fish
Saturday: Grilled Teryaki chicken
Sunday: Burgundy Beef
Monday: Homemaded chicken soup
Sunday: Pancakes
Monday: BLT's
Tuesday: Chicken Nuggetss
Wednesday: Homemade noodle soup
Thursday: Italian Chicken
Friday: Spaghetti
Saturday: Tastefully Simple Soup (Something I just have in the cupboard)

I think we should all go to Kris10Leighs house for dinner!
Our weekly menu is pretty much the same as yours... with the exception of I throw in a pork dish somewhere. Leftovers here actually get made into a whole different meal.. such as chicken, cook extra, make a pasta salad with veggies and chicken that night for the next night or chicken salad for sandwiches. Chicken is also good in salads, which we usually eat one at one meal at least every other week... big salads, with bacon and hard boiled eggs and anything else I can find to throw in them. Serve the salads with rolls and butter.. Family size packages of Hamburg can be stretched a long way several differnent meals... meatballs for subs or spaghetti, burgers, meatloaf and casseroles. I dont make a menu up till I see whats on sale... then I plan accordling.

I'll put what we've had in the last week. Bear in mind, I shop sales and try to spend the least I can on groceries.

Enchiladas with homemade refried beans
Bbq chicken on the grill, salad, baked beans
Burritos with leftover refried beans
Hobo dinners in the crockpot (didn't like it as much as when I bake it, will have to admit)
Hamburgers on the grill with cut up fresh veggies
Pizza delivered for stay home movie night
Easy Hamburger Helper (just two of us this night)

Was trying to eat from the pantry and freezer so this is what we've eaten in the last week. Lunches are either leftovers or quickie hotdogs on the grill. Breakfast is usually eggs, toast or cereal.

Have you guys heard of www.savingdinner.com - it's a great resource for meal planning. It is sort of a partner site to FLYlady's site (www.flylady.net).

On this site, you can download free samples of various tailored weekly menus (such as heart healthy or vegetarian or crock-pot) - 6 recipes and a detailed grocery list. And if you like it, you can sign up to get weekly menu plans emailed to you and available for viewing online (for a small fee).

Here is the link for a free sample of the "Frugal Menu Mailer"
http://www.savingdinner.com/menu_mai...nu_mailer.html

Also check out the "Mega Menu Mailer" - instructions on making 22 preassembled meals to freeze and heat later, supposedly only takes about 3 hours to prepare all 22.
http://www.savingdinner.com/mega_men...nu_mailer.html

There are also LOTS of free recipes and tips on the site. And the author (Leanne Ely, the Dinner Diva) also has menu planning books if you'd rather have a hard copy, including a "Basics" book for those of us who are new to cooking.

I promise I'm not affiliated with the site or getting money or anything, I just love the idea of not having to hunt down recipes and make a grocery list every week - and the recipes are all REALLY good! Enjoy!

Bless you, ricka! I hate even thinking about meal planning! Of course, right now I'm just working my way thru the cupboards since i'm just feeding me, but when DH and I are living under the same roof again, I'll need to get back on track!
