Default Aldi/Kroger/Meijer comparison

Tomatoes
Kroger SALE 1.48
Aldi ALL THE TIME .99

Grapes
Kroger SALE 1.35
Aldi ALL THE TIME 1.15

bananas
Kroger SALE .49
Aldi ALL THE TIME .33

mini carrots
Kroger SALE 1.75
Aldi ALL THE TIME .99

Quilted Northern toilet paper
Kroger SALE 5.99
Aldi ALL THE TIME 5.49

I matched these prices to Meijer as well, and Meijer ON SALE was within .01 of Aldi's all the time prices. Now with coupons, I can see doing better at Meijer, which is really surprising to me! I didn't realize that. However, in my area, I never see produce coupons. Plus, it's just easier not to have to browse through adds and clip coupons. Just shop at Aldi. The downside to Aldi's, though, is that produce is not always good. Sometimes it is! Sometimes, though...ewwwww.

I've found (with the exception of bananas) that the produce at my Aldi's is pretty gross. I've never bought anything except bananas there. I'd be interested to see how Aldi compares to Kroger (my main shopping store) with 'regular' items. Esp since I've been using alot of coupons lately.

Well...I could do a little price comparing for you. I'll come back later and post some items from today's receipt. Might be a while...I need to get dinner going.

Too bad I don't have kroger or aidis in my area. If you want others to decide if those prices are good deal, please include the container sizes. Because for 16-oz container of sour cream, 99c is almost a good deal, but for 8-oz container, it's not a good deal at all.

Do they really have a dozen of eggs for 39c? Oh, I wish they had this store in my area. We would eat eggs with everything.

getforfree, I considered that when I was typing that up, but I don't have size information. I mean, short of running down and checking my cupboard, which, sorry-I'm not willing to do. At Aldi's you don't get a size choice nor do you get a brand choice. For sour cream, you get a medium container of brand X sour cream. I believe it is 16 0z- definitely not 8 oz. And yes, 12 eggs for .39! I consider eggs to be free food!

You are so lucky to have Aidis there. I once found large eggs for 70c /dozen at WinCo, and I was so happy, that I bought like 10 pack, and we were eating eggs with every meal for 2 weeks after that. The lowest you can normally find here is like 99c.

Aldi's seems to be touchy subject sometimes. Some love it some hate it. Yes the produce is mostly nasty and the selection is poor. If you are saving and watching your health it also maybe not be the place to go. With coupons and such you normal/regular supermarket should meet your needs..have you tried the grocerygame...give it a google.
