Smile Finally checked out the bread outlet

I made it over to the bread outlet today and was very pleased with the selection! Bob's Red Mill items (tons of them!), whole wheat bread, bagels, hamburger buns...

I got two mini pizza crusts, a package of french rolls, a bag of flat whole wheat bagels, a package of whole wheat hamburger buns, soy flour and 5-grain cereal for about $8. That's about $1.33 an item! And, they have a loyalty program and freebies if you spend a certain amount.

lrjohnson and others who have talked about bread thrift stores - thank you!

Great buys! I'll have to see what we have here. Just can't find Bob's Red Mill for that price! Wow!

Bob's Red Mill items!?!?!?!?!?!? At a bread thrift store?

Darn, darn, darn!

Exactly what bread thrift store was this? Where's the location? Heck, if I go out to California I just may swing by this place.

Nice score!

lol! It's an Orowheat/Entemann's (sp?) place. I don't know if the Red Mill stuff is always there or not, given it was my first visit, but was great to see!

Lemme know what you find. I can tell you the ones in Morton Grove and Northlake don't have Bob's Red Mill items. Also, each of the Entenmann's thrifts differ in the types of deals they offer.

wow... our deals at our bread store here don't have such great deals usually... we go because we can get our 12 grain, whole wheat flour (different from enriched wheat flour) bread there for 1.75 and if we're lucky they have big bags of brand name tortilla chips for $1 instead of the $4 regular or even $2 good sale price we find at the store...
they do have a loyalty punch card where once you fill one out you can get something from the managers special rack for .25... and they double punch if you bring your own bag... =)...
as for brands, i can't remember what the brands were but i know we don't have bob's red mill here...

it's so great that you decided to check it out and had a good first visit...

I just went to an Entemann's outlet for the first time last week myself. Definitely got good deals on Arnold's breads, Thomas's English Muffins, New York Bagels, etc, but no Bob's Red Mill, which I would very much enjoy seeing.

Our bread store also has a card they give you that for every dollar you spend, they mark it and when the card is filled, you get a $1 off your next purchase. It's not a huge amount, but it's free to the customer's. Also, they have senior citizen Tuesday where they give a discount to seniors.

The outlet I went to has a very good discount policy: if you buy more than $20 worth of stuff, they take 10% off the price--*and* they usually throw in something like a free box of donut holes (stuff I don't eat but take to the office to share). They also have some sort of senior citizen discount or special--I think it's also a day of the week where seniors get lower prices.

Most but not all of the goods are near the sell-by date, but I have a full-size freezer for storage.

That's my guess - that the Red Mill isn't always there. I don't know about coupons - I'll have to ask!

Nope no red mill products there (in addison mall, Addison & near Califorina) but I did find Homesyle stuffing boxes 4/$1! so I snapped up 4 even though I have about 6 boxes and a canister of stove top in the pantry! I also found a boboli whole wheat thin pizza crust for $1.50.

Sigh...our Freihofer outlet is 45 minutes away. I used to hit it once or twice a month when I lived in the city. Now I'm lucky to get there a few times a year. I'm so jealous of you all. I'll have to see if there is anything closer.

I have bakery/bread store near my home. I love going, and has my favorite brands. My husband and I try not to go too often, we like it too much.

I went again today. They also carry Milton's bread, which is the brand I favor at Trader Joe's, for $1.89. I had a coupon from one of the neighborhood circulars that comes in the mail for BOGO so I got two loaves of Orowheat for the price of one.

3 loaves of bread (one Milton's, two Orowheat) and one package of whole wheat hamburger buns for $5.57. I'm loving this place, lol!

And I'm $2 away on my loyalty card from any free item of my choice!
