Default Lemon Ideas

My lemon tree is covered in blooms this year... more than double of what was there last year. Now my concern is what to do with all the lemons I'll have (or should have) by the end of the season. Last year it was lemonade but I'd like to come up with something I can make with the lemons that will keep for use later.

Any frugal ideas? :-)

Pam

make some in ice cubes?
dry some and store to later use in cakes and such?
make some homemade house cleaners?
i read somewhere, maybe on about.com, that they make gr8 astringents too. like mix with some stuff to make a homemade exfoliator. i would try about.com and type lemon uses in thier search bar. could also dry some out and chop up with some peppercorns, make a lemon pepper seasoning. with no added salts, just natures sugars. that is daves favorite spice right there. he loves his lemon/pepper. hope this helps.

You should be able to can lemon juice, enabling you to use it throughout the year. I've not done lemon, but I've canned all berry juices & rhubarb juice of all things.

Lemon marmelade would be yummy, and make great items to use as gifts.

I've seen beautiful wreaths with dried citrus slices. Sort of layered on grape vine wreath forms.

And, If I had too many..........I'd try bartering with my excess, for things I didn't have available to me in my garden.

Abundance..............what a wonderful problem to have, huh??

Thanks for all the wonderful ideas! I'll have to look into drying some slices, and marmelade sounds yummy too! I've had orange, but lemon would be new, so I'm all for it. I've not tried it in my diet coke before..I've seen it like that at the store.

Now.. just the waiting is left, and keeping it watered since we've not had rain in a few weeks now.

Have a great Wednesday!

I have a different problem, I send DH to the store for 'A lemon and A lime' what I got was two bottles of 'real lemon juice' and a bottle of 'real lime juice'

I am swimming in the juice!

I was thinking of the astringent/exfolient thing, maybe as a gift, but I can't figure out how to package it..

Lemon is the best all purpose fruit!
I freeze the zest. Zest can be dried too.
