Default Do you use a Food saver?

I am truly amazed at how our waste of food has gone down since I purchased our foodsaver. I love that thing. I even make homemade tv dinners for us. I use them for quick dinners when I have to work.

a foodsaver is a machine that you use to take all the air out of your food. You use bags or cannisters to seal food inside.

Oh, ok, i was thinking that coudl be it.

here's my cheap alternative to that, i think i picked it up from someone here.

Use a zip lock baggie, put the food in, then insert the end of a straw at one end while you zip up the baggie up to the straw. Suck all the air out, then quickly zip the rest of the bag. Works well for me,a nd yes, the lack of air really keeps things fresh longer.

I live by this thing!! I'm single so I never use all of anything!! Being able to reseal anything in bags in a LIFESAVER!!! Cereal, cheese, bisquick (yes I'm lazy sometimes), chips..whatever. Great for buying in bulk and breaking it down. I resue the bags when I have to make them. I have saved so much in freezer burn it's unreal. Works for me!!

btw
i have found that those disposable bowl covers, can be substituted for disposable shower caps at 2 cents each from sallys....
also, the plastic lid from a gallon of ice cream, makes a great paper plate holder.
i also, use odd plastic lids and fill them with my french toast egg mixture and dip the toasting bread into and then fry in oil..
the foam veggie trays are washed and used for chopping and slicing fruit and veggies, then discarded.
