I bought a big expensive package of celery at Christmas and remembered how my mother stored it. I used a rib of it last night, almost a month later and it is still fresh and crisp.
When you get it home from the store, wash it well and cut off both ends so you have seperate ribs. Wrap them up in a clean damp kitchen towel and place in an opened plastic bag. Will keep in the fridge at least a month, maybe longer. Now, Mom also dried out those celery leaves and stored them with her spices for soups and stews. I suppose you could freeze them for the same effect. |

For any kind of leaves I wouldn't reccomend you to freeze them actually but dry them like your mother used to do. It preserves the minerals and vitamins much better. Frozen food is dead food.
